As there is much else happening in the world of Van Halen - a new twist on the old topic.

I was driving home today and listened to Humans Being - for the first time in a while...I was reminded of how fantastic that song really is. Now even die hard Dave fans have said that this song was probably the best Sammy song since Van Halen with DLR...If Van Halen had come out with an album of songs of Humans Being caliber - would there be as much desire to get / have Dave back? Personally - I don't think so.

I have to agree that was a good song. The only problem though was I believe Sammy wasn't really into it. I think Ed said it was like pulling teeth at that point to get Sam to do much. I gotta say though if VHIII would have followed the edgier side it may have been more successful.

Yeah, I think Van Halen was heading into the right direction with Humans Being. If they would have stayed together for another studio album, it would have been killer. Of course, they had to get through the greatest hits album first.

Humans Being is a great tune! Everything the band did musically in '96 was good. It's just a damn shame they didn't make an album that year, with either Dave or Sam. We'd have had something really enjoyable, I think!

I'll agree. Humans Being is one the few Hagar tunes I like, along with a couple from FUCK and 5150, but MWM and CGSTNM were the highlights of BOV1 for me!

-- The new Dome is Blue. DLR sang the lyric "BLUE-eyed murder in a size 5 dress!". Therefore Dave is in the band! You can't argue with logic like that!

1996 was a very good year MUSICALLY for Van Halen. 'Humans Being' is one of the best with Sammy. Would VH and Sammy still be together if Ray Danniels wasn't their manager at the time? I think he would be. As for the greatest hits album, I wished they hadn't put it out. I always believed that those type of albums should be for bands that had great careers and are now either on their way out or already are.

I agree: Human's Being is top notch. I really wish they could have put out one final album with Hagar, that contained tunes along the same feel as this song. I think the record would have kicked ASS!

Human's Being has gotta be the HEAVIEST VH song, this side of Romeo Delight!

it sounds VERY predictable---the solo is just some sort of a "one note slide up" deal

I looooove Humans Being. It was such a transition from 'Not Enough' and 'Can't Stop Loving You'. (my sis says it sounds more like Metallica than VH! Lol!!) But I think that song is great! And I'm so happy that they added it onto their greatest hits. That was actually the reason why I bought that album!

Humans Being is cool, but me still thinks the best Sammy era song they ever put out, was Judgement Day. To me, it's the only song they did with Sam that really captured the spirit and the attitude that made VH mighty. I think I'll go put it on now!
