Hey guys.....I just have a few questions about HSAS......

When it was released I was pretty young...so I have no idea what the success of it is...

When I first heard this (the San Jose boot..then found the album)....I was floored at how good the stuff was!!!!

Can someone tell me if this did anything in the charts? What was the reaction to the album at the time? And it must have been unique to have a group record and album basically live in front of a crowd that had no idea what was going to be played.....

    Any thoughts?

    SAB

I remember Whiter Shade Of Pale playing on the radio quite a bit but I don't remember the album being huge.

I have this one and sometimes wish they would get together again. At the time it came out, they did play Whiter Shade of Pale alot, and also Missing You and Top of the Rock. It's a decent album.

I don't recall this album being a big hit, although I remeber seeing the concert on MTV. They did play Whiter Shade a few times as well...

Dude, HSAS ROCKED! Through the Fire was and still is one of my all-time favorite albums. In fact, I'm still playing a cassete copy that I duped from my buddy's turntable back in the early 80's, complete with needle drops. I think if I actually heard it on CD now, it wouldn't sound right to me.

Missing You, Top of the Rock, were 2 of the best, though the whole album jammed.

I don't think it did much, just a side project for Sammy, Neal Schon and a couple others. It would be AWESOME if they got back together for another one!

It was an album with Hagar,Neil Schon, Aaronson, and Shrieve. It was done before Sammy put out VOA and before Journey put out Raised On Radio. Top Of The Rock and Missing You rule!

Slight correction.... it was right before Journey put out Frontiers. Raised on Radio was in 1987. And Schon plays better on HSAS then on anything Journey did in the 80's. Also some of Sammy's best moments. I would definitely rather hear the sequel to this than "Mas Tequila" II or anything by the Steve Perry clone-led Journey.

I read somewhere recently that Schon was going to be involved in Sammy's next solo album......

And I think the main reason that it worked back then was that Sammy could evolve his songwritting and Neil can go nuts with some guitar work.....

I have "Missing You" the boot.....any other known boots or outtakes?

Sorry mi amigo, but HSAS was released in 1984. Frontiers was released in 1983. Perhaps you are thinking of the Neil Schon and Jan Hammer album that was released prior to Frontiers? Remember the tune "Lies (No more Lies)"?

    Oops... you got me

(hey this is the 80's here, can't remember everything from high school!)

Even so, it was closer to the Frontiers album than Raised on Radio. And yeah, I do barely remember the Schon/Hammer song. I'd never heard of Jan Hammer at that point, but he soon made a name for himself with the Miami Vice soundtrack.

You can get the CD in the right price bin!
I think they got together to do one show together for Mtv, and decided to put out the record? My favorite songs are
    Top of the rock
    Missing you
    Giza
My home town! That one ROCKS

I thought it was a series of shows, I hear there are a couple different boots (I have one..trying to find the other) and I have the San Jose show and it doesn't sound like the album.

Anybody know how many shows they did?
