Some people around here love to slam Dave's a-mile-a-minute interview style. Sure, at times, it can be over the top, but DLR is always entertaining (yes, except for that Leno appearance).

On the other hand, Ed Van Halen is the guitar god equivalent to "Rain Man." Stern played an interview from the LAPD golf thing and Ed sounded like an idiot. He has always been incapable of answering a question unless he was talking "butch" about Dave or Sammy. If Ed is the captain of the VH ship, then I can now understand why it has been sinking since 1996.

To paraphrase Dave, "Ed Van Halen without a guitar in his hands is . . . a fucking moron."

Ya know... I'd find it ultimately interesting to get an insight into Dave the person... not Dave the Showman. An interview without all the flash and BS on-liners about the every day Dave...

Dave and Ed are like night and day. A VH reunion is NEVER going to happen.

Perhaps back in the day when the BAND needed each other, it was a perfect fit.

Ed and Al are lost souls, that is the impression I am getting by their actions.

Taht's the whole thing with Dave though, he is always working like alot show biz people, and he leaves some of his real persona for himself...some public people don't want the enitre public to know everything about them, and I respect that..

Ridiculous. I take it you've never read a majority of Ed's interviews, most notably in the guitar magazines. He was knowledgable, concise, and down-to-earth about music in general and guitar playing, and most of it was not a criticism of Dave or Sam. The only time Ed has been cryptic or hesitant to give clear answers on anything has been the past few years since Gary left the band.
