Ok we've heard tons of rumors over the past 2 years about lead singers. The main one being now that an 80s singer will be fronting the band.

I for one want Roth. Actually I demand Roth. Anyways if you had to pick someone from a defunct 80s (DLR,Hagar, Cherone excluded) band like we're hearing, who would it be? Give your top.

1. Robert Plant
2. Vince Neil
3. Bret Micheals
4. Coverdale

There is no way in hell I'd ever want to see someone like Plant in VH! He's got his own legendary rock band to claim...Zep is his legacy and heritage. I'm not saying Vince or Bret or DC would be any better, but to me, Plant is the consumate rock singer. Joining another band like VH would just tarnish him image and impact IMO.

I will agree with YR and say David Coverdale, for the opposite reasons given above. While DC is known for his days in Purple and Whitesnake, his name alone isn't one of immediate distinction. I do think his "road stripes" COULD make a transition into the realm of LS #4 a bit easier and he does have the range to sing the classics. He also stands a better chance of this happening than Bret Michaels...BM is too involved with the Poison tour this summer and a renewed interest in 80's rock to join up w/VH.

Truth be known, though, if it ain't DLR or Sammy, they'll never regain their "place".

Yikes! With all due respect to Mr. Plant (him and Jim were my teenage idols), I don't think it would be a good fit in any way, shape, or form. I think Robert is too mellow these days for what VH needs.

One of my all time favourite singers, who I think would be AMAZING in VH would be little known Graham Bonnet. If anyone here owns the Alcatrazz album with Vai on guitar, you'll know what I mean. IMHO, this guy has got the most outrageous voice in RnR!

well, now you know what I mean by "I guess". I think any one of those guys would be a WEAK SUCK fit in the band van halen. A fourth singer would make a freak show. If it was a freak show, it may as well be somebody else that I like, and I like Zep.

Out of those, I'd pick Bret Michaels.

Well I think you are wrong.

David Coverdale could sing both the Roth and Hagar era VH songs easily and he is also a very talented songwriter.

Though I would of course prefer Sammy or DLR over a fourth singer.

None of them. Not even close to fitting.

Plant is just getting old, and has way too much history.

Vince Neil doesn't sound very good, and I doubt he could contribute much at all to song writing.

Bret Michaels isn't a great performer. When I saw them last year, I went away almost as flat as the show seemed completely scripted.

Coverdale? Man, to think some people would suggest that a reunion with Roth wouldn't last. Coverdale sees absolutely everything as a one-off project.

No thoughts on my earlier suggestion of Graham Bonnet? He also made a great album with Micheal Schenker called Assault Attack - Outstanding!

Y'all'll think I'm out of my mind, but if they had to go with a fourth and the fourth had to be someone we've heard of...

Jani Lane

One hell'uva song writer, and the guy has a great voice. He'd fit VH well.
