Maybe he should record a version of Good Vibrations or make a movie to pass the time

No I don't think he's bored at all. He should be too busy recording songs/finishing up the new VH release and , of course, there are all those lovely ladies out there that Dave must entertain or be entertained by, so no, I don't think Dave's bored what-so-ever.

Its a matter of who is holding up the show ! If its Dave waiting for them ...or if they are really working hard !!

That's assuming that Dave isn't the reason they're going slow. Don't forget that according to Eddie (and get out that grain of salt), recording quality vocal tracks from Dave isn't the quick process it once was. It's quite possible that Dave is as much of the reason they're going slow as Eddie is.

Eddie "I recorded my parts to MWM in 15 minutes" Van Halen has managed to put out 5 studio albums in the last 16 years. Personally I don't believe him when he blames slow recording on "lazy" Sammy or "can't sing" Dave.

Dave sounded just fine on DLR Band to my ears.

True enough, but Dave "Mr. Inspiration One Take and let's go to the local cantina" has only recorded the same number of studio albums in that same time frame.

Maybe both Eddie and Dave need to get on Red Rocker time, where albums come out more often that Halley's Comet.

Dave could record and tour at any given time due to his open personal life. Eddie, on the other hand, has husband and father responsibilities that no doubt keep him from wanting to be away touring all the time.

I see your point though. It does seem (though it's from a WAY outside perspective) that Eddie has gotten a LONG way away from the early days of "plug in, record and your done" way they did things in the early days. But really, no veteran band does that any more. And you made a great point about the MWM thing; Eddie saying that they did the music for that in such a short time. If that's true, Eddie should take a lesson from that, because that song is amazing and has some of Eddie's most vital playing ever.

You could look at it the opposite way - but I don't think that's the way it is. EVH went into the studio early '99 - and we have 6 tracks done!!!! Admittedly with a new singer.

I think Dave makes music when he feels like it and has fun. I think Eddie maybe forgot about the fun part somewhere - he seems to agonise over perfection these days wanting to make his "dark side of the moon" and all.....

I bet Dave could have laid down vocal tracks in a couple of takes that most of us would have thought ruled.

Hopefully the two of them can realize that neither one of them is right, and just accept each others differences in the interest of creating music that neither could create on his own.

Fuck this " Dark Side of the Moon" obsession Eddie has. He better be concerned with making the next great VH recording that he can instead of trying to imitate Roger Waters.

I agree - but the longer this drags on, the more I think neither of them are seeing it that way. I don't take any rumours as true, but there has been a theme running through some of the more legit ones that Eddie is dragging his feet and Dave wishes things would move quicker. I think if things were totally cool something would have been announced by now - I could see the silence as being a positive thing up until about New Year, now I start to wonder.

Personally I think VH and FW kick the shit out of anything Floyd ever did. Actually I'd even take the Hagar albums over PF....but I hate PF so that's kinda to be expected

I concure, buy I don't dislike PF. I just don't go out of my way to listen or get info about them.

I also agree with "Eddie should stop trying to be like Roger Waters".

Eddie Van Halen should just get back to being Eddie Van Halen, the greatest & most infuential guitarist ever. And part of one of the greatest song writing teams in Rock & roll history.

Hey EDDIE wake up, wake up man. wake up.

Get your feet out of the quick sand and just "PLAY IT"
