"At his peak, he was the ultimate frontman" This was taken from a recent piece VH1 did about males in rock and sex. They did a nice portion to strictly Dave, giving him alot of credit for the way rock and sex mixed in the 80's. And i have to agree with Ted. Dave, at his peak, was one of, if not the best frontman ever in rock. His attitude, charisma, larger then life appeal, and the ability to do things onstage that most people could never do all made him seperate from evey other frontman, past and present. Whether you love or hate him, Roth deserves major credit for changing the role of the frontman.

I agree that Dave, at his peak, was one of the best frontmen in the history of rock. But I think Robert Plant was better. Great vocal range, charisma, mystique. I don't mean to dis on Dave, but I think Plant is better.

Having not seen either handle a crowd at their peak, I'll decline to comment.

And when the reunion happens, he will once again be the ultimate frontman for the ultimate band.

Ok - every Zep fan is going to jump on me for this - so let me qualify! I do not think Dave is a better singer than Plant, I think Plant is generally more classy than Plant; Plant is better at lyrics; however, as a front man and entertainer - Dave beats him with no questions asked.

I won't Plant may have been a decent singer once but he was a crap frontman. Now he's a crap singer too.

Jonathan...I'd be closer to agreeing with your comment if it was referring to Dave. But, Plant a crap frontman? ...a good singer once? Please....check yourself for pods. Dave has his place in terms of great rock front men but don't get crazy.
