    Alright Folks,
Lets say the Van Halen Tour 2002 starts May 1st.
Now they will hit the entire United States atleast twice breaking it up with an overseas tour ect.ect.
So My question to you all is who do you think will open up for the mighty Van Halen on this great trek. With a band playing the 1st part of the tour- a band to join them overseas- and a band tojoin them again back here in the states to finish it off in style.

I would hope Buckcherry would open for them somewhere along the line. Great band.
Foo Fighters would also be a good choice, as well as Lifehouse for the teenybopper set.
I'd just be happy just to see a VH show. I've been waiting for DLR to come back before I see them live. I hope it happens some time in my life!

They should follow The Rolling Stones lead and have a credible relavent band open for them.

The Stones have a history of taking good acts on the road with them-- G&R, Living Color, Sheryl Crow, Van HALEN!, etc.

Foo Fighters would be a good choice--talented band, still making good records, STP, or some other group who's been around for a few years but is NOT over the hill

They should NOT take some band like BTO, Private Life, The Velcroes, or any of those other weener bands they've taken out with them in the past.

What's the point of a opening act anyway? If it's to make the show more "attractive" to the public, I don't think VH needs one. VH with Roth would do big business without having another band on the bill. Forget the opening act and give me an extra hour of VH on stage.

Seldom have I ever gone to a concert and thought the opening act added anything. Frankly, I have a hard time even remembering who the opening acts were for all the show I've been to.

Foo Fighters would be great, but I would vote for Living Colour, since they are also supposedly at work on a studio album, with a tour next summer (they played a few shows this year)

Another great choice would be Rollins Band or (very remote chance)a reunited Black Flag.

And then for the comic value there's always Tribe of Judah and a reunited Montrose

    Welcome back, Van HALEN!!!!

...It's the BAND and Dave is really the cat that can front VH. He sang his ASS off and was really cool. No cheese here guys, this is filet Mignon! - Steve Lukather's comment after witnessing a Van HALEN 2007 rehearsal

I gotta agree with a couple of FORD's choices here - Living Color would be pretty cool, if they're making a return. And the Rollins band would flat-out smoke - especially with Henry being a Classic VH fan. I can just imagine what kind of stories would come out of a tour with Rollins and Roth sharing breathing space.

    Lets see,
Creed....Staind...STP...Alice in Chains(or Mad Season)....Fuel...Saliva...Vast.. or even Puddle of Mud would be some choices of mine. All in all with a Reunited VH....THE SHOW WONT SUCK EITHER WAY!

If VH comes out with a super heavy album, I wish if they had to have an opening act, they would take out Godsmack. The lead guitar is not the main thing in their band, it's more about the grooves and they lock into some grooves that are the best of the new music out there. A few laid back tunes, but mostly balls to the wall. Higher energy than any other show I've seen other than maybe Buckcherry.

I agree with FORD's choices, although STP would be kool, and a reunited Alice In Chains(probably one(ok Skid Row was kool too) of the only kool bands to open for VH, why does VH always take shitty openers on the road with them???)

Current???? hmmm maybe The Red Hot Chili Peppers opening a leg of the tour(although they are pretty damn big on thier own)
Or better yet Black Label Society(Zakk Wylde)

although I think they should have NO OPENER and play for three hours!!!!!! ALL songs, and keep the solos down to 10 minutes a piece...or shorter...

The only way we'll see a Summer Tour with Van Halen next year is if you buy tickets to the 5150 bathroom

Foo fighters would be awesome. Saw them 3 times on their last tour, they were great. Dave Grohl loves Van Halen too. There's a funny video on the Foo's website of Dave in the studio with Tenacious D, he's wearing a t-shirt with a classic VH logo. It looks like he made it himself, pretty cool.

Personally, I wouldn't want to see an opening band. But if I did, I like the idea of the Foo Fighters or Buckcherry. Forget Creed, I'm tired of that band. They need to change their sound once in awhile. How about Tribe of Judah?
