Just got the new issue today and Rivers Cuomo is on the cover holding the old Kramer (with lit cigarette) on the cover.

Also inside there's the 50 greateest guitarists on their best hit.

    Eddie Van Halen
    Jump

I'll probably be plaing"Eruption" at every show for the rest of my life, but I guess my time capsule choice would have to be 'Jump.' At the time I really wanted to do something challenging. Diver Down, the album just before 1984, was half cover tunes, and I hated it. Our producer had told me his theory that if you redo a hit, you're halfway there. But I'd rather bomb with my own shit than make it with someone else's. So that's when I built m own studio, 5150, which was a major step for me – not to prove any point but just so I could be myself and experiment musically. People were telling me, "You can't use keyboards, you're a guitar player!" So, that's when I wrote 'Jump.' Musically, it was a real departure. We had the challenge of integrating the keyboards and synths with the guitar for the first time. And it became our biggest hit. The word 'pop' comes from 'popular,' meaning a lot of people like it. Ninety-nine percent of the reason I make music is to, hopefully, touch people with it. And this one touched the most people – so far."

Yeah, VH III touched me too....
"I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me."

That's an old quote. He said it the last time one of these guitar magazines did this kind of compilation. Before VHIII.

That was actually back in 1995 when Balance came out and "Guitar Player for the Practicing Musician" did a section on EVH. I think that same magazine actually had that stupid Hootie and the Blowfish song transcribed. Reading that quote brought back memories from 11th grade.

</font>[/QUOTE]I thought it was the backup 5150 that Eddie donated to the Hard Rock Cafe. If you go to Weezer's website it says the guitar was on loan. I actually saw that picture over a month ago on the site.

Well, Ed certainly got his wish with VH3 didn't he?

You said it Wolfie3! Actually, I've been giving VHIII another run through lately and there are some good songs on it. 'Fire In the Hole' and 'Ballot or the Bullet' are good Rock N Roll songs. Unfortunately, 'Once' and 'How Many Say I' cluttered up the good stuff.

That statement was made at the Guitar World Millenium Issue, when Eddie was on the cover with Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Kirk and James from Metallica.
"I could call it anything, but the only word I can think of is Brown. It's just a warm sound. Warm, big, majestic" - Eddie Van Halen on his Tone

"Van Halen is definitely a ladies band, and I´ve got the Polaroids to prove it". - David Lee Roth

I got the new Guitar One in the mail today - It's got Ed on the cover with the black and yellow charvel. The (old) interview is by Donn Landee regarding the solo for "Beat It"...

    Good pic of Ed, though...
I swear, it's like I'm playin' cards with my brother's kids or somethin'. You nerve-wrackin' sons-a-bitches.
