for those of us that more or less accept /or at least tolerate the diffrent versions, the spinoff/solo work of vh singers is nearly as important as actual vh albums.

since warner owns the montrose albums and daves solo albums are we going to get remastered versions of the best of the lot:

    MONTROSE -debut album
EAT'EM and SMILE- first solo dave.

these are well-known tie-ins to the vh catalog.

    we would go ape.

    please warner, please.....

(plus, i bet they wouldn't be opposed to bonus tracks like ed is!!)

Well, here's what I think. If it took Warner Bros. this long to re-master the Van Halen catalog, think of how long it's gonna take them to get the MONTROSE -debut album and EAT'EM and SMILE- first solo Dave done, if ever. I don't see Warner Bros investing that much time and money into these albums. Just my take.

I would love to see Eat Em and Smile remastered, in fact I mentioned that over at the Army today, so this is great minds thinking alike. I doubt it would happen, but it's definately an album that would benefit from being beefed up. I've never heard much Montrose, so I can't really comment on that needing remastering, although anything of that age could probably benefit from it.

glenn, you are right. that album is a great album with great musicans playing on it, yet it is almost a waste as it sounds a very thin.

Man, The first Montrose album is up there with my top ten all time favorite albums, that album kicks-ass from beginning to end. When you listen to that album you can understand why Sammy fits so well into VH. The Flash guitar Playing by Ronnie Montrose and the Big drum sound. They are about as close to the VH sound as any I've ever herd. They were first however.

Yeah, Vince, it's a shame that while Sammy was in Van Halen, David Lee Roth didn't get together with Ronnie Montrose. What a cool tradeoff that would've been, huh?

At least then Montrose would stand a chance in hell of entering the Hall of Fame...

Rokgutar- The only band Roth may have fit into was the Bay City Rollers, I do believe he has the talent for that group. AHHHH..maybe not.
Montrose big problem was egos "just like VH" and the time they came out. Could you imagine having to compete with LZ,BAD Co, the who, ALso I think Disco started making it'sway in.

Yeah, it must have been tough for Sam the Sham back in the early 70's; to be so lacking in talent, conviction and originality *and* at the same time having to compete with real talent like the Bay City Rollers and Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods. Tsk, tsk...must have been terrible for him.

Once again, Vince proves himself to be a complete idiot. Comparing DLR to the Bay City Rollers is stupid enough, but now he seems to think disco was around in 1973 when the first Montrose album was released.

But what can you expect from someone who doesn't understand the meaning of Van HALEN???

I agree JorL that those two albums should be remastered. It isn't as big of a deal if Eat Em gets remastered to me because most of the songs off the album can be found on the greatest hits. Rokgtar calling Sammy names isn't cool.

    YankeeRose,

    Waaah! Waaah! Waaah!

When I see someone refer to DLR as a "no talent hump", I am called to duty. Where were you when that happened?

"Sam the Sham" is pretty mild, actually, sorry if I offended you.

Sorry Rokgtar I never saw him say that about Dave. That sucks too. I can't always read every thread, there's too many.
