Was it the early eighties with Roth after the US Festival, or the late 80's, early 90's with Hagar at the helm?

I've always wondered about this because it seemed like VH was really huge following the release of F.U.C.K. 1990-91 is about the time I really started getting into Van Halen.

Being a long-time fan, I feel that VH's zenith was from 1984 through 1992. During that whole time they were everywhere!

That sums it up for me as well That was definitive zenith era me thinks due to the exposure.

i'd go a step futher and say that it started to really get big with pretty woman and diver down. i had listened to VH since 1978 but they weren't everywhere you looked (circus, creem magazines...) until diver down. i can remember seeing that lion with shades on everyone's shirts (the bootlegs - remember the bad silk screen and blue 3/4 sleeves?)...anyway i'd say that's when they really became THE band. and i guess until around 1992 too...before that live album.
