Thanks to Corleen for posting the URL.

Isn't it nice to hear a story from someone on who was on the inside, with no axe to grind?

I seem to remember Sherman telling us once that Mitch was offered the job, but turned it down.

Even Brad Starks showed up at the links and "tried" to deny the story.

One would imagine Brad would know, eh?

    http://www.vhforums.com/vhlforum/For.../003105-2.html

Almost no one believed Sherman's story about Mitch being offered the job, only to turn it down.

But I bet you I know one person who WOULD HAVE believed him...

    Mitch.

(Hey everybody, say it loud, say it proud... "No news is good news." LOL. )

Mitch seemed like a nice guy. He even had good things to say about Mr. Cherone. Why can't Sammy be a bit more mature about the mudslinging? If Dave didn't come back, I'm curious to hear what that would have sounded like. Mitch probably would have given us the hit that Gary never gave. I guess the moral of the story is that Ray Danniels could fuck up a two house mail route!

I just finished reading the whole interview, and now I can't help but say.... I'm sorry to have posted the 1992 Mitch Malloy pic to make fun of him, a few months ago. I gained a lot of respect for him after reading this interview. He actually had the COMMON SENSE to decline the job and BLUNTLY say to Ed, YOU NEED DAVE.

    Once again, sorry Mitch.

I still think he looks like a cheeseball, but at least he's an honest cheeseball. And he was far too nice to Danniels. I'll bet he's been threatened with lawsuits as well.

Funny how the Malloy demo never leaked out like the (non existent) C*********e one supposedly did.

Mitch Malloy turned down Van Halen for the same reason why Dave was booted out again.
Dave and Mitch didn't want Ray Danniels to manage them. That's the bottom line.

Mitch Malloy would've been in VH if Ray became his manager.

Mitch was walking on eggshells in trying to respond about Danniels. Further proof that Ray Danniels is holding everything up with his lawsuits.
The only thing that baffles me is why we haven't heard about such a lawsuit from any news sources. Surely someone must of picked up on such a legal matter if it existed, right?

This also should end all question's about Sherman's credibility.
Let's see Brad come in here shoot this down.

This Mitch Malloy character is a cool shit. He really took the right route with it. Although I'm hungover right now, so I'm sympathetic to anything.

That was a great interview! Mitch talked a lot about VH in it.
That really show's that Sherman knew what he was talking about too. And that Brad was wrong about his crediblity.
I have never heard of Mitch Malloy before Sherman mentioned him. I think he might have made the right choice, I think VH hurt Gary's career more than it helped it.
Melodicrock always has great interviews. I like that site a lot.

This still wouldn't be enough proof for the Sherman non-believers. Oh well.

The part of the interview that got me was this:

Interviewer: You did keep in contact with Eddie for a long while after this, but he wasn't happy at all with you when you recommended something to him was he....can you tell us what you said about what he needed to do for a vocalist?
Mitch: Ed actually asked me what I thought, and I told him.......DAVE!
You need to get Dave back, and he raised his voice saying, "You know what happened and how he was such an ass and what he said to me and did to me, and you know how hard it was to get him to sing in the studio", and I said, but Ed, you had Dave singing Desmond Child songs.
Dave isn't that type of singer, you had him singing melodies he can't sing, and what you need to do is just let Dave be Dave. And then he got even louder and said that he wrote all those songs/melodies, and that Dave just wrote the lyrics and sang them. That's when I shut up. I love Ed, he has been like a big brother to me in a lot of ways. Who am I to upset him. But he did ask. And whatever happened with the Ed / Dave chemistry worked, and I just think that it will always work.

"You know what happened and how he was such an ass and what he said to me and did to me..."?

Didn't Edward's mom ever tell him 'bout "sticks and stones may break my bones..."? I mean, all Dave did was make some insensitive comment about Edward talking about his hip all night. Not like he physically abused him or took money from him or messed him over in some other way. Shoot, look at you guys (VH bros.) giving Dave crap for wanting to brighten up the "bunker" you had him singing in. Sometimes I think Edward and Alex would've been better off being stick-up-the-a** corporate suits than rock musicians.
