"...went head-first," he says. "I even went as far as to tape the phone call. He goes 'I love your voice, I hate your record.' I said "Yeah, I'll do whatever you want. You're Eddie Van Halen. I (stink)."

    Ya see... This is the type of singer I'm talking about here. I know that this tryout was a long time ago, but what's Eddie's fascination with these glam boy, high-pitched, hair-spray squealers?! They sound like cats inheat! Mr. Big sucked. All the carbon-copy singers of that era are considered jokes now, and will never be considered timeless (like DLR era VH is). Why can't anyone else see this? Reaching back in time to get a glam-rock hairspray and lipstick singer will make VH the laughingstock of the music biz! Some of the chicks singing pop these days have more balls than those clowns (and less makeup!).

    You are right Mr. Ashcroft about those guys all being Dave clones. But THEY CAN STILL SING! Dave can't.

    I think David Bowie should join Van Halen. This guy is still cool in his 50's and has the swagger to do the old DLR stuff, has the voice to do Hagar songs and is obviously talented enough to write his own lyrics etc. I wish Eddie would call him.

    So your whole point here is to follow Eddymon around and start shit with him in every thread right? Just confirm that for me, so then I can show you the door. Start contributing something worthwhile instead of the snide comments. We all know Eddymon's history, get over it already.

    And this is to EVERYONE else who is involved in this, and you know who you are...

    Enough with the personal attacks and snide remarks to each other in every thread. Either take it to email or you won't be posting here anymore. The Dave and Sam insult parade is history, I'm sick of reading it. If you can't think of anything better to post, then DON'T POST, I won't miss you.

    Dude, know what you're talking about... Don't partake in it myself... However, snide remarks are part of my repertoire! You can't ban those! (I distribute them evenly though, if that helps).

    Man, that guys pipes are so cooked he's borderline useless. He's much better when he uses his lower register these days, but most of his material was performed in the traditional rock tenor range.

    </font>
Dude, the only time I've ever heard Dave sing like an 80's glam squealer is on "Me Wise Magic". Don't know what he was trying to do, but it sucked! He's much better keeping it in his natural range.

    Eric Martin is no 80's glam squealer like the singers in Cinderella or Slaughter.(which isn't really 80's anyway) Mr. Big was never glam either.
