Alright let's get to it!Next people started asking Edward to play and the first thing someone shouted was "Hot for teacher"to which Edward replied"I prefer forward movement".Then someone else yelled for 3:16 to which Ed said"You've heard that before"He said "I've written so much music in the last 4 years and now I don't know what to play".Then he said "Oh man,I wrote the meanest boogie the other day".Then he proceeded to tear into a very fast and mean sounding riff based on the low e string om the guitar. It was a new tune and it was real cool. Then he played the intro to mean street but where the intro on the album stops he kept going. Now here's where it gets a little technical. For you guitar players out there listen up.The mean street intro is done on open strings and you can't raise the pitch on open strings unless the nut were to come to life and start moving around on it's own.(I know there are ways to raise open string pitch, but not when your other hand is tapping like mad doing Eddie's intro).Edward solved this musical problem by covering ALL six strings on the guitar with his pinky on the left hand.So while his right hand tapped the intro we all know his left moved up and around the neck to make it change pitch.Picture hearing the Mean Street intro on an old turntable then the record suddenly speeding up and up and up.You can probably imagine it.It was a sound Edward has not recorded and it was friggin genius. Then Edward said"Get your cameras on pause" " I got this new thing, sounds like a blues harp"He then proceeded to make his guitar sound like a harmonica by bending 2 stings at once and then tapping them both one at a time in a rapid fire succession while the left hand holding the strings down bent back and fourth.I'm sorry these descriptions can't be better but as all you guys know, most of Edward's guitar playing would be hard to describe to someone who has not heard it.Then he slowed it down and played a classical style tune that could have only been played by someone who just beat cancer only to get divorced.I'm not making light of his situation. It was heart wrenching. The song would have made you weep and my favorite is "Unchained".Someone then said "Eddie, play blues"To which Edward responded"I can't play the blues,I'm too happy".He then flashed the famous Eddie smile we all know. The crowd all laughed. Then singer Lisa Loeb came into Edward's view he said"Hey Lisa, come on up"He asked her 3 times and she refused. He said "chicken shit".Then Eddie started playing blues and singing.Yes singing."it's hot in here,I do believe I need some air"He then wrapped it up by saying."I got some new gear coming out next year but we gotta make sure it don't break first so I'm not doing any autographs or any interviews,I'll take care of all of you and your aunts the next time I'm here".Eddie CAN talk.I heard it.He sounds fine.As for Van Halen he made it clear. He's not going out with a line-up that won't last or a line-up that's just a reunion for a quick cash grab.Edward feels to do anything like that with Dave or Sammy would be ripping all of you off.I took about 10 photos and have Ed speaking and playing on my phone tape at home.(You better belive I was recording).Ed IS healthy happy and not going to be pressured into anything that is not 100% musically honest. That's all I got.All you VAN HALEN fans out there are awsome.I know you guys have been waiting and I'm glad I could bring it to you.Stop putting Eddie down,he's only human. That's what made him so cool in the first place.....Remember?

Great post mfgtr. I enjoyed Part 1, and 2!!! Sounds like Ed is doing great. I'm glad you were able to go, otherwise we would all be listening to a bunch of old hens in here gossiping further about Eddie's supposed "issues."

That sounds so much more promising than I heard yesterday! I am just glad he is ok and still making music. We are all just wanting this void filled and getting worked up over nuttin. Thank you for that review!

Dude, if you got some audio of this appearance recorded and stuck on your answering machine, how's about dumping it into a .wav or .mp3 for the rest of us to hear???

WOW!!! HOLYFUCKINGFUCK!!! What kind of Twilight Zone am I living in? What kind of Viagra-Testosterone mix are these 50 year old + guys on? I never thought I'd hear another Dave and Eddie album again. If I did, I thought it would be a mid-paced affair like the Rolling Stones or later day AC/DC. After the TATTOO single I was ready for a poppy album from old guys, with a few nods to harder rock (She's A Woman and Bullethead) and I would have been happy with that.

I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE GETTING A FULL-THROTTLE HARD ROCK, HEAVY METAL, BALLS TO THE WALL, FUCKING VAN HALEN THRASH METAL ALBUM!!!

Whether true or not, it's nice not to hear the token "Ed didn't give me an autograph, he's an asshole" post.

    Thanks for the positive contribution.
