Does VH have such a responsibility to its legacy that only Dave or Sammy is a possibility? I mean, can a fourth singer do any better than Gary Cherone? VH is the victim of its own success, as schizophrenic as it is when you think of the differences in the band under Sammy/Dave. Can any of us accept a VH without one of these 2 since they were so successful with them? I can say this, I think they can only grow musically with Sam. Dave only wants to recreate the past, it seems. Are we guilty of wanting to relive our younger days by going back to the future?

I think you have a point with regard to acceptability by fans and only wanting sam or dave. And yes, I agree that one way to look at it is that its a product of their own success. They were with each one of those guys for a long time. Legacies were made (history). People got used to a certain type of rock and expect it from now on from these boys. Almost too late to change and maintain the same level of popularity even though I would personally buy it. Mass consumption is sculpted to two certain sets of pipes. As III pointed out, anything else will be hard to swallow this late in the game.

I totally disagree however with Dave being stuck in the past. Even though his new stuff on his site sucks complete and total ass....I'd even say that it sucks my left nut...its at least a new direction and shows ....a degree of creativity I guess. Also, look at the last two on the greatest hits. I'd gladly go for a full set of stuff like that. Me wise magic HAD THE MAGIC. I'd kill for more of that.

Good point though. I'm hearin ya.

When I first heard Dave goin':
    I know what you're thinkin'
What your thinkin' is easy to see
    ...Chills, man
And its strange that after all that time, Eddie and the band sounded as good as they'd gotten to that point and it still sounded like the VH of old! I guess the main point is that if Dave wanted to do something new on the tour, why isn't he? Sure, give the people what they want... but isn't Dave's specialty given 'em what they don't expect?
