PRE-VIEWS

First impressions of some CDs just delivered to (or sourced by) MelodicRock.com

Sammy Hagar Not For Sale 33rd Street Records

Album Details
Released: US
Genre: Hard Rock
WebLink: Red Rocker
LabelLink: Tower Records

Pre-View
Wow, after non expecting much out of this release, I am really pleased with the result. I am a classic long time Hagar fan but didn't need want another CD in the vein of the last 2. I am pleased to say this is a breath of fresh air, although some might find it a little rough and raw for their liking. As Eric Martin and Poison have done, this is a groove filled, more contemporary, heavy, loose, raw and rocking record.
It's stripped back, while still rocking and very in your face. It thankfully also doesn't have any drinking/party themed tracks. Full review shortly.

uhhh the guy that wrote that should be a salesman or lawyer... said a lot of nothing.

I thought his last CD was his best solo stuff since the 80's, so I am not to hyped about this one so far. Of course, if it has just one really cool song I like, I will buy it. Not because I am that big of a fan, I am just that stupid
I SURVIVED TEXAS LINKERS WEEKEND I, II, III, IV and VI and VII.barely made it to VIII time to slow down

Its o.k.

Not bad for his last solo album for awhile.

Seems a little unpolished from what I have heard of it.

I just wish he hadn't left the title "Whole Lotta Zep". It's just a slowed down, reoworked version of "Whole Lotta Love" with a few riffs of "Kashmir" and "Black Dog" thrown in. I would've left the original title, with maybe "'02" added onto the end.

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

MelodicRock.com has 1 minute of 4 or 5 of the new Sammy songs and Sammy's site has complete versions of Whole Lotta Zep and the one that will be the single.

"Whole Lotta Zep" sounds like shit in my opinion, made me wanna puke almost as much as when Puff Daddy turned Kashmir into a rap song.

Another song sounds like Sambo ripped off Bob Seger's "Night Moves."

Oh get off it Lou, at least Sammy is a fucking musician who is doing the songs justice, Puffy Dipshit is a pile of crap. I don't see you whining at Dave for all of his goddamn covers. The last thing a Dave-head should be doing is attacking ANY musician for covering other people's music. Talk about hypocrisy.

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time, and there's a cardinal rule...you just don't cover them. It can't be done.

Sounds like shit.

And one more thing...I didn't even bring DLR into this, you did. So because DLR and Van HALEN admittedly did alot of covers, that means that I'm not allowed to criticize anyone else that did covers.

There are covers that work, like the Foo Fighters "Baker Street."

Then there are those that don't, like Joe Cocker's versions of all the Beatles songs, which I can't stand.

Sambo's cover of Led Zeppelin just does not work.

It can be done, it has been done, and btw Jimmy Page played on that horeshit Puffy Crappy did so go yell at the source.

Early VH doing "The Rover," sounded fucking good to me, in fact Ed's solo on it blew Page's away.

No band is above being covered.

Lou I bring Dave into it because I KNOW that your problem with the song has nothing to do with the fact it's Zeppelin, but that Sammy did it. By referring to Sammy as Sambo it's obvious what your motivation is dude.

Oh no it doesn't, liar. The only Led Zep cover I like is Stone Temple Pilots' Dancing Days. I can't stand anything else that other people have done. Everything else I've heard sounds like crap. See this is why I barely post here, you just put words into other peoples' mouths.

Yeah I put words in your mouth. Did you or did you not refer to Sammy as Sambo? I suppose I put those words in your mouth too?

Why don't you realize what you just said, instead of going off on a name-calling rant.

Do you really think I care if you post here or not? You have nothing positive to say EVER on here, so who the fuck do you think will miss you?

You put words in my mouth by saying that the only reason I criticized the song was because Sammy did it, which is not true.
