It's just a big fairground, where they do all the cowboy horse riding competitions. We were on Ed's side maybe 20 rows back or so and it was fun. My cousin's Mother In Law lives a few blocks from the Fair and I like Paso Robles as a town, so I had a great time going down there.

My mistake. I was at the Paso Robles show and remember the band being in all black. Definitely not the same outfit as the Stone Fest.

That’s probably my favorite VH “tour” shirt with only 2 dates on back.

Awesome, thanks James. The facebook machine threw a few reminders at me recently about this show. The sound was fine where we were standing. Got to see VH with DLR for the first time, fuckin box ticked!

Wolfs bass was very high in the mix.. VH looked rushed as they came on late with other bands running late.. But it was cool to see VH again in Australia..
    They’ve only toured here in 98 & 2013..
Came close on many other tours with them being in Japan but never made it here for what ever reason...

I'm assuming this video must be from a better vantage point with better sound, based on the reactions you guys are having.
I remember that. This is waaay better sound! Still heavy on the bass but much better.

    I was at this show,

The lead up to the festival was very strange, I bought my tickets early and they went from GA to seated (at one stage I had front row tickets seated) back to GA again. Then it looked like it was going to cancel... then it didn't.. tickets hugely undersold. They offered tickets to day 2 for super cheap if you had a ticket to day 1 from memory also. I remember thinking it was all a bit up in the air. I almost didn't believe I was going to see VH till they walked on stage! It belted with rain as well and VH went on quite late.

It was insanely loud where I was... one of the loudest concerts i've ever been to but VH rocked it and I feel very lucky that I could make it to their one show in Australia since the 90's!

Yep, it was an organisational nightmare, right from the start. The night before I still wasn't sure it would happen, then the morning weather was fucking putrid and I got all depressed (possibly brought on by the previous evenings activities). But it turned out a great day. Noiseworks were great, Kings Of Chaos totally killed it, Barnsey was Barnsey, Aerosmith were great but looked like they were miming and finally, VH with Dave.

As much as I dislike Steven Tyler, Aerosmith never disappoints live.

They where not always studio like live in the early days many disliked that. My first Aerosmith concert was in 75? I was luke warm about it. Saw them in the 90s and loved it live.

I think Dave wanted the guys to dress the same as a display of unity representing the common vision of the band.

Whatever the reason, it was a little weird to see.

I think the strangest band wardrobe was from the 1998 "3" tour where Ed wore turtle necks and slacks, while Gary wore blazers and slacks.

I have always wondered how that MTV Live at the 10 Spot Van Halen show from Sydney '98 impacted the later tour once it returned to the U.S. in '98. The mini-tour in May '98 sold pretty well, the 2nd U.S. leg starting in July '98 not so much.

I remember Sam saying "did we look that stupid when I was in the band?" (paraphrased)
