I'm actually one of the few that prefers "When the music's over," to "The End."
I like WTMO better, too. The live version, preferably. Both classics, though.

The Doors, for me, was just a matter of staring somewhere in the midst of '80's metal and then tracing the roots to bands like Sabbath, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Cream, Hendrix, and of course The Doors (among others). I think of Jim Morrison as one of the first "rock star" vocalists, or at least one of the pioneers.
The Doors kill them in merchandise, though. Doors, Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles, Bowie, Hendrix, Floyd...All the old, great, bands do millions in merch every year.

To me The Doors are much more legendary. Especially Jim Morrison. Oh well, congratulations Police fans.
We were asked to Vote for the bands that we liked better in each match up.

Aren't we always in these polls? But, somehow, I guess for some they feel they have to vote the way they're "supposed" to vote, instead of what they INDIVIDUALLY like the best. Good ol' group think.

Van Halen's 1984 was pretty good.

It just seems like some were voting on guidelines that were tried to be set up in the frontman battle where influence, popular culture and such were asked to be considered. Funny that more people seemed to vote on favorites in that poll instead.

I thought that the point of this was to vote for who you preferred. In other words, it's 'what you think' not what's more in line with reality. That's how I voted, at least. That's why I asked.

The Finals was the first time I voted for The Doors. But I know damn well that they are a much more "important" band than, say, Foreigner, yet I voted for the latter that round.

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. There is a loophole there and this should count as a best last album by a particular band.

(and I'd say it blows the doors off Synchronicity)
