    I don't dislike it.

Every track on the debut is stellar, but if you have to choose, well someone has to lose.

Little Dreamer wouldve been much better if Ed used the flanger during the verses like he did on it on the 83 South American shows and Alex did more with it like he always did live. It's fairly bland on the album.

AP has the awesome intro, supercharged tempo, and I've always loved the solo. One of my favorite solos on the album. And always loved the apocalyptic lyrics, unusual for Dave.

Little Dreamer is the shortest giant on an album full of behemoths.

I think that's part of what I like about Little Dreamer and Jaime's Cryin', they're a chance to take the foot off the gas for just a bit on an album that's operating on overdrive. Not that it's a bad thing but it's okay to take a moment to breathe.

Little Dreamer is a ballad with balls, not the sappy bullshit we got in the mid 80s. I like the early versions they did live where Ed had an extended solo in the intro. I have a boot called Sonic Tokyo and its it's awesome.

I dont mind slowing the tempo down. RWTD is slow too. But LD should've been better. Alex kind of mails it in, but he always got more creative with it live, and Ed sounds better on it live, too.

If you take Dave's cadence out of the song it's pretty lame. I mean, all four instruments sound great but it's just blah. Again, his cadence is really jazzy and cool. That's the only thing I love about that song.

Little Dreamer was the first VH I learned how to play all the way through, albeit with a ham handed solo so there's some sentimental value in it for me.

On Fire is the only track I do not like on the debut, because I think it has a pretty lame chorus, it sounds like the first 'hair metal' song or Motley Crue song and I can't stand that vocal part "fiiiirrrrrreee fiiiiirrrreee", it always grates on me.
I prefer Atomic Punk by far.

Default Atomic Punk vs. On Fire?

    Sounds nothing like Motley Crue.

The chorus doesnít sound like hair metal. Itís awesome.

It's arguably the worst song out of eleven gems, but Dave definitely does a great job with it. He nailed it in 2008 when I saw them, at the end of the song I was thinking "damn, where has this guy been?'
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Lol, yep. Nothing hair metal about On Fire and the chorus is incredible. Doubt there's many singers out there who could pull off what Dave and Mike do there.
