Hardly. McFarlane is a big VH fan and a child of the 80's. But I don't think people ever said nobody's aware of VH in these modern times. People have suggested their live relevancy has waned and remaining ticket sales are largely driven by nostalgia rather than rabid devotion. Much like most bands of their era, save for anomalies like BJ, KISS, and Aero.

I think he's talking about Billie Eilish supposedly not knowing who they were -- but the fact that it went so viral and led to VH trending on twitter for over 24 hours is all you need to know about the legitimacy of the concern that people don't know them. Obviously not EVERYONE has heard of them but for a defunct band that was mostly popular 30 years ago they are insanely well known.

The usual hash doesn’t center around whether the name Van Halen is generally known, it’s usually about what exactly their remaining draw sources from.

I've always find it funny when people care if the band they love dearly, is well known or still relevant.

There's a few Canadian bands that aren't very well known in the world and I couldn't give a shit.

Tragically Hip and Big Wreck. The former is done now due to Gord Downie's passing in 2016 but they had somewhat of a following in the States in the late 90's early 00's. However, they were mainly a Canadian act. And I'm glad they were more or less exclusive to Canada. I wish they got more credit worldwide but it doesn't bother me to the point of discussion. Those that know...know...

Same with Big Wreck....Now they are criminally unknown compared to other acts. Ian Thornley is a pure freak of nature when it comes to singing, composing and guitar playing. Very rarely do we see somebody come along that can play, sing and write like he does. He deserves to be mentioned a whole hell of a lot more than he is. They're legit like a Canadian Zeppelin and I don't hear many people talking about them.

Do I care? No. More for me.

People need to believe the world sees shit as they do. It's understandable. Unfortunately, it's most often not the case.

Then again, there's a LOT of wacky far out fringe guys that hang here. Mainstream folks, less so.

I prefer to think of you as eccentric, not fringe. Has a better ring to it.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Watched the episode.

Eh, cool VH is in it, but I didn't find it very funny. Maybe Family Guy is simply played out for me.

Heck, I'm one of the few mainstreams here. You, on the other hand, are one wacky freeballin' coronary - survivin' VH lovin' clownball.

It actually wasn't a great episode. FG is still pretty funny most of the time. But that one was kind of a dud.

Plus, I dunno why McFalane couldn't shell out a few more royalties to VH for a few more of '84's songs. Didn't have to be Panama over and over. He can afford it.

I thought one of the better gags in the episode was when PANAMA blasted out every time something happened. That did make me laugh. I was sure, however, he was gonna skip to Jump for the canyon jump!

I agree....Not a great episode overall and if I had to hear one of the most overplayed tracks from 1984 one more time I was going to hang myself. Would have loved to have heard a bit of "Top Jimmy" or a tasty morsel of "Girl Gone Bad." Too much "Panama" in my opinion....
