I took a graver to see Chickenfoot in Baltimore only because he really likes Satch. He was so blown away with Sammy we ended up flying to Vegas to see him again plus opening night at his Vegas Cabo Wabo. He told me that was most fun he ever had with his clothes on. Sadly he passed with Leukemia 5 years ago.

It seems he wants to go cheap. Like that Sammy and friends record. That should of been top notch with all the people he knows.

He's the best vocalist in rock. He can sing it all
He's not a genius, but he's smart enough to know what he doesn't know...but he DOES know that there's no market for new music for classic rockers. Unfortunately for us, but it's a money-loser for them, and Sam's savvy enough to realize that and not piss too much of his money away.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

I do like Sam & understand he's technically the better vocalist.

I respect your opinion. But I will side with Ted Templeman on this one. You know, the guy who signed Van Halen and produced the six pack.

I know this is a VH site, and Sam is a great singer. But there are quite a few better singers in rock music.

He's the best singer that has been in Van Halen, let's just agree to that and move on.

I don't think by 1991 TT was hurting for cash. He probably made more $ from the VH records than the band members themselves, the way the VH contract was set up. Maybe one explanation why I've never heard Dave mention Ted's name even once post 1988.

    Dave only talks about Dave.

And there is never too much cash. Until they re-did their original deal, I bet Ted did make more money than VH off of their records.

I am so glad that you had that.

I am a graver but I have caught Sam a few times and he always delivered the goods.

The Circle album was fantastic but, alas, Rock sells only slightly better than Jazz and it didn’t get the attention that it deserved.

Still Montrose, Solo, VH,Waboritas , CF, The Circle,... quite a resume

To be honest, I'm surprised some of the gravers didn't mention the fact that this comment might be influenced by the fact that Dave screwed Ted with the Aerosmith deal.

You are assuming people know what that is. I consider myself pretty up on VH and I have no idea about DLR screwing Templeman on an Aerosmith deal.

Wait a while. There’ll be some justification or another, if not that.

I think Ted sums up Dave perfectly. He has a prefect array of gifts that normally don’t fit in the rock world.
