For the life of me I can't figure out why Sammy won't get serious about what music he does have left.
Why he is farting around with the circle ?
He needs a top notch producer and write some tunes and get co writers if need be.
It seems he wants to go cheap. Like that Sammy and friends record. That should of been top notch with all the people he knows.

He's the best vocalist in rock. He can sing it all

“Sammy’s a helluva singer. Sammy may be the best singer out there. Period,” Templeman proclaimed. “To me, he’s a combination of Robert Plant and James Brown. That guy can sing like nobody. I’m telling you, nobody. I’m talking just as a singer. He doesn’t know how good he is even. The guy is, I think, the best rock singer on the planet. Period.” Still, in 1985, when Hagar was set to replace the departed David Lee Roth as Van Halen’s singer, Templeman had his reservations. “I wanted them to change the name,” the producer admits. “When I first sat down with Sammy and his manager, I said, ‘Call it something else if you’re going to be in the band.’ It’s just not Van Halen without Dave to me.”

Because as good a singer as Sammy is, he's probably a better business man, and smart enough to know it doesn't matter anymore. He's had a career that has spanned about 5 decades and made more $$$ than 99% of the planet could even dream of.

I don't think working with "producers" and "co-writers" is really high on his list of priorities at this point in life...

Dicking around for a 2:25 min online video from the safety of his own home is a much better option. Especially considering that video will attract more attention than anything "new" would. I don't want to argue with anybody, but the new album came and went with little fanfare. As has anybody's from his relative peer group. And it wouldn't have mattered if Eric Clapton played the guitar tracks. Plus at this point, who knows if/when you can even "tour" again.....

I kinda hear it - Ted did say a mix of James Brown and Robert Plant. I think in the lower register, I don't hear it, I agree. But when Sam goes high, there's a raspiness that does remind me of James Brown. I think with Sammy, there's a huge difference between who he is deep down, and his image. He got his start in the Bay Area, around the time Santana, Journey and all that scene was booming in the early 70s. He's not some country singer from Kansas. This later day redneck-ish image was used to sell records, but that's not who he really is. He covered Ottis Redding on his debut record, and there was an attempt to launch him as a soul-ish singer that didn't work out, there's still some video on youtube. The rock stuff just sold better, so he went with it. He had the Montrose stuff that gave him street cred in the rock world.

Yup. I think what Sam doesn't want is all the aggravation that a huge all star record would demand, and then the thing bombs. He's not putting all his eggs in one basket, he has his TV show, his radio show, his band, his cantina, his rhum. Since records have stopped selling, he has diversified.

He said just 6 months ago or so he wanted one more big moment in music and thought The Circle album would win a Grammy.
Sammy cares. He is just going about it wrong. He works, but he does like to half ass things.

Sammy says ALOT of things because he does ALOT of interviews. I'd take them all with a heaping bucket of salt.

If Sammy Hagar is "going about it wrong" I surely don't know who has gone about it "right"...

Sammy is an excellent rock singer with a soulful edge, but so is Steve Perry.

Perry had a lot of Sam Cooke mixed in there.

Dave & Jagger are like great character actors:
On the surface their voices aren't Brad Pitt, but within the context of their work, they are
    unforgettable and brilliant.

I do like Sam & understand he's technically the better vocalist.
But i also think, technically, there are a lot of guys better than him.

Everything Sammy has touched has turned to gold.

I realize rock is dead but I just feel like Sammy is wasting what he has left.

All my opinions are based on pre china virus.
