The brothers are not especially nostalgic so I do not think they think about the Sam era or any other moments from their past with particular passion either way. Both sober and with healthy relationships, things that have not been a given most of their adult lives. Do not think they spend much of that happiness on looking back.

Should have known the resident insecure Liberace fangirl would be triggered. I am not "here" often, as there's not much to talk about anymore, I do think it's disgusting that this man sabotages his own discography and will comment on it if I please.

Lmao, not triggered at all, asshole. Just find it weird that you so often show how much you despise Edward Van Halen on, ya know, a Van Halen fan forum. Go about your business as you please.

They don't regret Sam. Sure Ed can hold a grudge but there was good times as well.

They love the songs they created with him. Nothing can change that.

I think Ed and Al are proud of the music they made with Sam. As for Ed’s relationship with Sam, that’s for him to answer.

So, Eddie is a scumbag and Dave is Liberace? Any raving compliments you would like to share about Alex, Mike, Sammy, Gary and Wolfgang?

I always wonder why jackasses would want to spend time on a fan forum for a band who's members they hate. But, hey, to each their own. If Darkness wants to wallow in negativity with idiotic "scumbag" and "Liberace" assertions, let him make a fool of himself.

I believe Ed is probably extremely proud of what he did with sam, especially 5150.

The band was at a low point after such a career high with 1984, but they pulled
it off, and had great songs for their new singer to sing (Gary wasn't so lucky).

I can imagine that must have been a very satisfying album/tour/era for him.

I'm a CVH nut, but i can still understand Ed was able to head down a new path and
    still attain great success.

But, for whatever reason, it ended badly.
So i think Ed decided: We made those albums, they were great...but i don't wanna revisit any of that.

    Thumbs up

Eddie said in an interview around the last tour with DLR. That the Sammy Hagar era songs were like "his children who went off to College."

Parents still love their children when they are away at College.......usually.

It's odd that they never came home, though.

They must be pursuing their Master's degree.

I don't know and will never know what's in Ed's head, but I imagine that he's proud of the great music he made with Sam and the great success the band had during Sam's tenure. They scored four straight number one albums, had five successful tours, won both Grammy and MTV music awards, made more money than ever before. And, Ed can still hear songs from that era on the radio and at sporting events. He has to be proud of that, right?
