They teased this for about ten seconds at the show I was at in '86. It was gonna be great, that's for sure.

LOL. It was for a minute then Al busted into Rock n Roll. I felt much better.

They did some goofy stuff that show. Addicted to Love, Sunshine, something else too. Mighta been Bonanza or Walk Don't Run....not sure. It was a fun night for sure.

They did that at our show at Portland Meadows in 93.

Still, the greatest VH cover tune to me is Summertime Blues, performed at various times from 77 to 84. They owned that tune, even more so than the Who's awesome cover.

At least you got to hear those! "Walk--Don't Run?" Wow that'd be phenomenal to hear. Eddie played like a few seconds of it on Kevin Bacon's radio show once. It might have been "Pipeline" you heard because they did that on that tour. And at least warmed up with "Wipe Out" on one occasion.

    What city was that show?

That was their encore in '93. And fuck Pearl Jam's version, that's VH's song now too.

And of all songs, "Summertime Blues" is the epitome of them owning a song. You are 100% correct.

Honestly, I can't remember. I just feel there was something else. You're probably right. If there was anything it was most likely Wipe Out or Pipeline.

    That was Rochester, NY.
I remember it was a crazy night. There was a reckless feeling about them. Never had that feeling ever again in all the other tours I would see.

It was in a minor league baseball stadium and Sam used to live across the street. That added extra elements to the show and probably made it a little more exciting for them. Something different, anyway.

Must have been "Wipe Out" because there's video of them playing it at the Rochester sound check. Ever seen? If not, enjoy:
