Wow, quite a lineup! I listened to Armored Saint quite a bit, but I'm not sure I've heard of those other bands. Helloween maybe...? I had a friend who really liked Metal Church. They probably would have fit right in with that lineup.

Venom was one of the heaviest bands of their time. They originally coined the term "black metal", even though their music is just heavy thrash.

Grim Reaper was an excellent NWOBHM band. Their lead singer, Steve Grimmett, has a very distinct voice.

I can remember going to see them, I was probably 13 years old. The Venom fans scared the shit out of me.

About oh, ten years ago, the cover band I was in, our guitar player was loosely associated with Venom. Knew some of the guys, hung out with them in the studio back in the day, etc.

Said one of their live albums was recorded in a basement and they just said it was a show from a previous tour. The reason, back then, a struggling band couldn't afford to have someone professionally record a live show. Wonder how many live albums are like that from the analog age (if true).

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Oh, I totally remember that song. I must have heard that a lot at some point in my life as I could almost sing along with it.

    Venom, not so much.

LOL. I remember when the Black Metal record came out. A few of my buddies loved it and said come over and hear it.
We got to the "Buried Alive" track and I said something like " Alright this is creepin' me out....and so are you guys".

Venom was too scary for me.

They got a decent amount of play for a little while on MTV's Headbanger's Ball.

Venom is A - that black metal shit that I can't stand, and B - they just aren't very good in my opinion. What a combo.
