No one is in charge or has ever been on releasing archive material. Why during a pandemic would any of this change? Because bands who are active and promoting (Foo anniversary tour and new album at Christmas) are doing what active bands do, promote, how would that in anyway connect with a pair of near 70 yr. Old retired guys?

It seems like a rather silly stretch. Should they unretire because of a virus? Maybe start interviewing people to be curator of the catalog during shelter at home orders? I get if an active band but they are not asking for your money today. No they owe you nothing today and especially do jot owe their peace to strangers. And you are welcome for the years of enjoyment fyi.

I’m not “fabricating” anything. There’s no “sense of entitlement” with me whatsoever.

I simply said it’d be a nice gesture to tip their hats to their fans. Doesn’t require a whole lot of effort either, at least for most folks

No excuses just reality. Time machines are cool too. Again reality, bizarre to think how active bands promote in anyway is relevant to retired dudes.

A lot of things would be a nice gesture, after 40+ years of VH, we can be assured of one thing with this band. They are not fan friendly, they don't do "nice gestures". Not saying it is right or wrong, just that it is not in their nature.

There is a difference between making excuses for them, and accepting the reality of it.

I accepted the reality of what VH is a long time ago. They simply don't do "fan friendly", even when they were at their best. They are now retired, we can talk all day long about whether or not they should, but it makes no difference. They won't do it, any of it.

Outside of anything promoting Wolf's album it's not gonna happen. Even though I'd totally love anything you listed, you especially lost me right here...

I think you guys are misunderstanding Darrin. I don't think he's saying it would be a bad gesture, just that Ed and Al are literally retired from making and releasing music. Ed has his gear, Al has his horse boarding farm that by all accounts he seems to really enjoy.

Maybe that will change, but doesn't look like it unfortunately.

Yep, I never understand that kind of attitude, that VH "owes" us for their life. They worked their butts off to become virtuosos on their respective instruments and paid their dues playing for peanuts in clubs to get where they are.

Correct and literally there is no one in charge to do it. So its asking retired near 70 yr. Olds to drop their lives. Why????

It was referenced the life we gave them - uh yes that is now in the entitled realm. You reference other bands do it but they are active. Find me a retired band that did something during this?
    Time machines very cool
    Led zep reunion very cool
    VH 81 material very cool

Reality for all 3 not gonna change no matter what the Foos do or how entitled a fan feels

Don't get me wrong, I want all that stuff as much as anybody. I mentioned in the WACF thread that in an alternate universe where VH still loved their fans we would've gotten an awesome 40th anniversary release with bonus tracks like the original Tora!Tora! intro and the EWS demo I posted.

Unfortunately, it's looking like the only way we will get that stuff is if Wolf goes through the archives after the brothers have passed.

You’re right guys. They won’t do anything and I should leave for even mentioning it.

I apologize for interrupting the best album poll discussions and your favorite deep cut set lists.

As to the fans giving them all great lives, that’s 100% factual. Doesn’t mean they owe us anything now but the two issues aren’t mutually exclusive.

Lastly, DD and DS need to know your roles. It’s VAN SQUALEN’S job to set people’s opinions straight ‘round here. 😎
