I think I actually like this more than the backwards intro on the album. This just sounds more eerie and ominous as I said earlier.

I agree! They shoulda used the original Tora Tora. Some scary shit.

I picked up the WACF studio sessions in the early days of ebay. Totally awesome to say the least. I wish there was an early version of the beginning of EWS. Woulda been interesting to see how that progressed.

Yep, it's interesting how the EWS demo didnt have any sort of tribal intro yet, just Ed noodling. Although his noodling is fun to hear, with the little flashes of the flanger.

It does sound cool, but the backwards just has a more trippy, chaotic feel which i think
    fits the LOC vibe better.

Women and Children First is the album that made me a Van Halen fanatic. I was aware of the first 2 albums, saw the band on the Van Halen II tour, but something about this album hit me like a tidal wave. The uptick in songwriting, the added shading of acoustic guitar in songs, not just an intro like "Ice Cream Man" or a solo piece like "Spanish Fly." This album said, we're a full fledged arena rock band, not a flash in the pan. They kind of made a move toward Zeppelin territory here, but a Van Halenized version.

And for some reason, it seems that Dave interviews were in every Rock magazine I picked up. That was the beginning of Dave really becoming Dave. Where he eventually became a caricature, back then he was genuinely funny, saying things you'd never hear from any singer before.

I'm so happy I was there, living in this era; great time, great memories
