1984 was the first DLR fronted Van Halen album I had, I can't remember if Diver Down was the second or Women And Children First...
Anyway, I remember the first time I heard WACF I didn't like it too much.
Now, it's an album I listen to regularly. It's solid from start to finish.
"Romeo Delight", Take Your Whiskey Home" and "Everybody Wants Some", some of my faves.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Every track is killer VH. My personal fav is Romeo Delight (which is my fav VH track overall), Everybody Wants Some gets an honorable mention!

You know it's an AMAZING album when IASR is only 4th, yet it's my #5 all time VH tune ever, and a stellar nugget like CTBM is last.

What I remember is loving the shit out of it! Then, shortly after I turned an older friend onto it, and VH period.
He got to go to the show and I didn't. Consequently, I've had to hear about what a great show it was for 40 years. Asshole.

7 of the greatest brown sound tracks in the entire catalogue.... still my second favorite VH album of all time, has never been budged one iota. Honestly, that double cassette tape combo of WACF and FW?...probably didn't leave my VW van's tape deck for like two years straight in latter high school.....

They have a deal now thats looks great, 12 months for $60. Thats as good as you will ever get. I agree with the others that $100 for a year is about tops you should ever pay, so this deal is a no brainer ,if you been thinking about subscribing.

I have one of those double tape combos, too! My cousin gave it to me, I thought it was some rare treasure because I've never seen one before. I was thinking about it earlier today and wondered if any of you guys ever had one.

....ahhh 1980. Such great times and such a great record from start to finish. My fav of the record would have to be Romeos Delight. So many great Eddie moments in that song !!

My favorite memory/moment was seeing them at the Nassau Coliseum on that tour. Our seats were high but right next to the stage. Section 327 if I remember correctly. When they played Loss of Control VH put on the smoke machine. The whole stage was filled with smoke and Eddie kept ducking under the smoke and popping up in a different part of the stage throughout the song. With the seats that we were in it gave such a cool angle. After all these years I still remember that like it was yesterday.

WACF just felt so much different than the first two, in the sense that you didn't get
the TRACK 1, TRACK 2, kinda vibe.

The songs bled into each other, in a weird way.

EWS has that great ending, you hear Dave with his line, Eddie hitting a stray note, then the soft
    bleed into "Fools."
It's this "Live in the studio" feel, where it feels like everything is connected.
Even RD coming in, somehow feels connected to Fools!

They really took a chance with WACF, because the songs are longer & have a rawer, more aggressive feel.
Def my fave guitar tone, drum sound, and i've never heard Dave deliver a better performance.
I've never heard anyone do what he does on that album, his delivery, and those ad libs in "Fools."
I've said it before, his voice is like the greatest character actor.
He's not doing Brad Pitt, he's doing something completely his own.

And WACF also features Mike's greatest Bass & singing, imo.
Plus, he just looks so cool on that back cover.

In fact, the album front & back covers LOOK EXACTLY the way the album sounds.
    Unhinged chemistry.

And, again, ISAR is the greatest radio hit that never was.

That tune belongs on the playlists that still feature RWTD and DTNA.

IASR & HAIL, ESSENTIAL early VH that deserves more attention from the masses.

    Excellent synopsis
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”
