    With all the bullshit that floats around regarding Ed's amps, guitars and his rig from back in the day (most of it being put out there by Ed himself).

    I'm not gonna lie, a part of me thinks it could be true even though I'm 99% sure it's bullshit.

    One thing is guaranteed though. If Ed plugged into that amp, it would sound like Van Halen.

    Rumor was that he recorded it with a tubecruch 10 watt Gorilla amp, and a Hondo strat copy.

    He's right. But he doesn't specify it was the demo version that Sammy scat sang over when Templman was thinking about getting rid of Roth during the recording of the 1st album. They did it secretly in a church, and only the Knights Templar knew about it. I thought all remaining records of the demo had been buried on Oak Island?

    EVH Gear limited edition relic replicas coming soon. MSRP estimated at $79,000 for the guitar, and $35,000 for the amp. The first 100 come with striped skateboard & flip flops👌

    I didn't even know Radio Shack made amps. They probably sound amazing but no one ever bought one to find out.

    Yep, they were probably designed by the fathers of the guys that design Katanas and Yamahas today.

    I know Edward has mentioned he went to Radio Shack and bought his very first Vairiac, so maybe the stories got changed up along the way. I certainly do love all the VH lore though, they show great creativity, and that itself is a good thing. Ridicule is fun, but not really fair if we haven't tried it out for ourselves.

    Way back when, Radio Shack actually had a tube tester, and you could bring all your tubes in and check them, and buy new ones if needed, and if they didn't have them in stock, they would order them in for you.

    FWIW, I inherited some hi-fi equipment from my late uncle, a couple years ago, and among them is this Radio Shack stereo amplifier;

    And a pair of these homebuilt Jensen (3 way) Sigma Series speaker cabinets;

    Every CD that I have listened to, through this rig, is like hearing it for the very first time,
    and with VH, it's not as if you were standing in front of them watching,
    it's as if you're sitting on the front of the drum riser, facing the way they would be facing. It is incredible!
    Without any doubt, by far, the best phucking stereo I have ever experienced.
    It could probably blow the windows out of my house!

    In my very first band, I had a homemade 3x12 cabinet that had purple shag carpet for grill cloth that someone's uncle had built back in the 70's and then left for years in a storage building somewhere. I can't even remember who gave me that thing now...but it sounded fantastic to my 15 yr old ears when I hooked it up to the extension jack on my Peavey combo. For the first time, I could actually be heard over the drums! Lol...

    My first amp came built into the case of my Peavey T-15. Wish they would've had the modeling amps back then.
