The two biggest successes of TT's career were VH and the Doobies. In that order. TT knows which band made him the most money. The Dutch one.

Ted's name holds a lot of weight to me.

Even when i was a punk kid reading the Life & times of EVH (Guitar World, circa 1985),
they had a side bar interview with him, and i was like: Ted speaks....YES!

I like Renoff's writing style, so it should be a good read.

I'm surprised Ffoner's not back on here, promoting this a bit.

I just hope I don't read a quote by Ted that resembles this

"Most people don't know this but Eddie actually started off on drums. You see when they were kids, Alex and Eddie had paper routes and they both saved up enough money to buy a drum set and a guitar....."

Does anyone know if the VH Store is going to be selling this book? I'd prefer to buy it there - especially if he has some autographed copy deal going on.

April 21 release date according to Amazon-

    Jeff?

I believe the plan was for VH Store to sell autographed copies but due to corona virus that put a pause on things. Eventually I'm sure they will. Just gonna have to wait on it if ya want an autographed one.

    Hi everyone,

Appreciate the interest in the book! Yes, I'd worked out a plan with Jeff H. to get books signed by Ted and me to VHStore - we were going to sit down together in LA the week of the book release together and do a bunch. But Coronavirus has forced us to postpone all that for now. I'm hoping the book event that had been scheduled for Vromans Books in Pasadena will be rescheduled for the summer and then Jeff and I can get Ted/Greg signed books to VH Store.

THAT SAID, I believe Jeff will be getting unsigned books in stock very soon.

Please support Jeff and VHStore! He's running a small biz and like so many people and I know he's had his own challenges to deal with while working within the Covid pandemic.

    Thanks - Greg Renoff

    Hey Greg,

Will there be a good amount of VH content in this book?

Gonna buy regardless, but curious what to expect.

Hi Jape, I'd estimate it's about 30% VH related = VH1 demos, 6 pack and FUCK. That doesn't include Montrose and Sam's VOA album, plus a short passage on his work with Ed on the 2nd Private Life album.

Yes. Probably why the production on EEAS was better than 5150, even though 5150 was an overall better album.

I'm not sure it's better. AVH deciding on using Simmons drums was something Ted T. would have had no influence on. Then for the rest 5150 has keyboard tunes while EEAS has a few novelty songs. It's difficult to compare them.

Not really. I'm not talking about the instruments used or the style of songs. I'm talking about the production and engineering of the albums. EEAS has better of both, IMO.
