I don't own one, but I play them a lot when I'm window shopping. They seem like decent guitars for the money. I love the forearm cutaway, wish they had that on regular Wolfgangs and Specials. Neck reminds me of my Peavey. I'd go used though, or B-stock. I bought my Wolfgang Special as a B-stock and only paid about $630, which ain't much more than a Standard.

I believe the Standards are made in Indonesia.

I got an email from EVH Gear and it showed the 'Yellow Cab' Wolfgang Guitar. Pretty cool, the name and the color.

I think they're great for the money. With import guitars it's even more important to play them to weed out the dogs and find the winner.

I used mine as a platform for mods and electronics upgrades. It's a great workhorse guitar now that I don't mind taking to gigs that I'd rather not take my nicer guitars to.

I'm personally not a fan. I no longer own a single standard while I have about a dozen variations/combinations of the "Special" series. YMMV though.

I've got one...2015 first year Trans Black or whatever it's called....it's a solid guitar but I don't care for the cheap electronics....all of the electronics suck...low grade, cheap ass bullshit. Even the input jack is garbage...I have everything needed to jump it up...I'm undecided about the pups though. I have a set of USA Fender Wolfs but I was considering a SD JB combo...working to much gets in the way....but as far as the action and decent quality of the body and neck $549 wasn't a bad deal....

My personal experience is that the quality control has gone down over the years.

I have a 2014 black hardtail that feels amazing. Perfect neck/body fit. Hardware is solid. Pickups are not overly hot. Neck feels like an old worn in strat. Nice fret work.

Picked up a 2019 Tri-Fade, and sent it back within 2 days. QC was terrible. The string retainer bar was drilled in at an angle and off center. The screws that hold in the locking nut were stripped, so whenever I locked the nut down, it actually rose up off the neck. 3 way switch broke after a few toggles. Neck pocket gap big enough to stick a credit card in... Pickups were way too hot. Unusable for anything but metal. Did not feel anything like the guitar from 2014.

I have a 1st year grey maple laminate top.

I made a few modifications and it's my number 1 now. (None of the mods are crazy)

though I'm jealous about the baked maple necks now.

I had one, from the first or second run of Standards, the orange quilt (reminded of a Les Paul-ish look). It was a great guitar.

I’m playing it here, totally stock, it was a solid guitar and fun to play

I wish I kept it, unfortunately I traded it a while back.

I have a white one with the black hardware. Made in Indonesia. I also have a U.S Wolf, cherry quilt. The Standard is pretty nice. The body is comfortable. I'm not crazy about the volume knob. It has no sweep. It goes from full on to full off with barely a turn so I'm going to be changing that at some point. I like the pickups and it's a pretty aggressive sounding guitar. I did have to shim the neck right at the base of the pocket. So it's not a perfect guitar but for the money I think it's worth it. The neck is really nice though I prefer the stainless steel frets of the U.S. model. I would say it's one of the better choices in that price range. I did play an Ibanez Jem Jr a while back and I'm still kicking myself for not buying it. This particular one was very nice and played great. Those are made in Indonesia as well I believe and they are priced pretty much the same as the Wolf Standard. Nothing compares to my U.S. Wolf though. It's gotten better with age and it's so well made it's just a joy to use.

The quality has definitely gone up on them.

Price increased with the new necks. The amber one now is pretty great looking.

    They sound great, too.

I don't think you can go wrong for the price. My opinion has changed on them. I have a gold top standard that feels and plays great. No issues at all whatsoever. Pickups are great. Stays in tune using the whammy bar. No issues with the neck or frets.

Your mileage may vary, but I plan to get another.

Plus for the price, it can definitely be a use and abuse beater guitar for lots of practice and stuff.

While I don't own one, I've played several, and they're decent guitars. If it were my money, I'd probably play the Wolfgang Standard, an Ibanez Jem Jr, and an Ibanez RG450 back-to-back-to-back and see which one fit my playing style the most. In addition, as Jedi points out, at this price point with imports, you're making a decision on the individual guitar as much as you're making a decision on the overall model.
