[QUOTE=Destructo3;2305762]The ONLY problem with the VH version is when it was released. Too soon after Linda made it a hit.

perhaps in United States ? but in Europe it wasn't a hit ! never heard it !

It was 5 years later. Linda Ronstadt released the album with that song on it in 1974.

Love their take on that song...
But I dont believe they ever released it as a single, so there is no way to know for sure. Pretty sure the only singles they released were DTNA, their 1st top 20 single, and Beautiful Girls.

I don't think it would fit on 1984 though.

Maybe it's just because I'm used to the track listing on it the way it is but it just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the record.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Absolutely! But You're No Good? 10th best song on the album for me. That still makes it Top 10 though!

Definitely, as far as the covers on albums. WHATGTG I to this day like more than YRGM. But the greatest VH cover of all is their blistering version of Summertime Blues, which even blows away the Who's classic version and downright embarrasses RUSH's live version that I believe was on R30 and had a tempo that was waaaaay too slow.

I really wish VH had put Summertime Blues on DD instead of DITS. It would have fit the summertime vibe of that album perfectly.

The first time i heard WHATGTG, i thought it was an original!

I loved the fade in, then that classic EVH kinda riff/tone.

I was like, Whoah, this is awesome!

Then the repeating riff, afterwards, with the splashy drums....

I had no idea it was a Kinks tune.

YNG sounds like a song they did for the heck of it. The other cover songs sound like they were forced by Warner and Ted to do.
