I think it's safe to say that when Ed said that he was taking over the "family business", he actually meant he'll one day run EVH Gear, not Van Halen, the musical entity

It says a lot of his loyalty. I can appreciate that. Donít agree with it but I can appreciate it.

Absolutely. Definitely appreciate their loyalty and the fact theyre allowed to do whatever the fuck they want.

Iíve been on the mindset of ďThe Bros donít owe me a fuckin thingĒ for probably the last decade or at least since ADKOT.

Well, what a coincidence, that's also their mindset! They also think they don't owe you a thing!

Can anyone think of a musician’s kid who was content to only play in his famous father’s established band without ever going off on their own at some point?

these guys put way too much pressure on themselves with the big build up and then nothing ... I for one would of given it a good listen back in 15 or 16 and was kinda looking forward to whjagt he had to say musically, these days I really don't give it a second of thought ... He missed the boat as did his uncle and father many many times in the past ...

I think Wolf has realized that there just isn't enough interest out there, and the name will take him only so far.

He shouldn't even consider a physical release. The biggest selling album of 2019 was Taylor Swift's lover, and it barely went over a million copies. It was the only album to sell a million. Billie Eilish had the second biggest album of the year, and didn't even sell 700,000 copies. Wolfgang would be lucky to sell 10,000. Why bother?

Nope. I can't think of too many of the opposite, either. Zak Starkey, Jakob Dylan, Dweezil Zappa forged their own paths. Jason Bonham and Sean Lennon didn't really get the chance, but have done a lot outside of their father's shadow.

I must be missing a few...

As to the videos and "progress reports" as he was creating the music, I think he probably just got caught up in the fun of creating. I'd imagine he was having a great time, liked what he was doing and wanted to share about it. But then, as time went by, the thrill wore off and other things came up.

I'm split 50/50 on whether I want him to release it or not. It'd be a fun thing to talk about (like we are now) if he NEVER released it, but it'd also be nice to hear it. It's a win win!
You give him too much credit... Wolfgang didn't release any music once or twice. His Dad and Dave's, managers, lawyers, and record companies handled all the business elements. Wolfgang was just told to show up, listen to a high level business summary and sign the contracts. I'd be surprised if he spent more than 2 hours directly dealing with any of the business logistics of putting out those 2 albums.

For crying out loud... the kid was 16 for the 2007 reunion tour and 20 when ADKOT was released. He was barely old enough to legally sign contracts let alone know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to the business end of a record release...

Clearly, Wolf has access to some very smart people in the music business if he wanted to launch a career. But frankly it appears he has zero motivation to do so... another talented Van Halen wasting time...

Anymore though itís not about album sales as much... itís about streams, views and clicks.

Yeah, I was thinking he was on a Tremonti release, too, but I couldn't recall. And I'm using the Dave's Dreidel method of internet research so I couldn't find my answer.
