Hendrix opened for the Monkees at one time. I banged the chick that did the spotlights on that tour 30 years later.

I was in the majority of males (along with a fair number of females) in my junior high school who were Kiss fans (think of the movie Dazed and Confused). Saw Kiss in '78, went to my first VH show less than two years later. It's phenomenal these guys - including Dave - are still playing decades later. If the Kiss/Dave shows anywhere near me in 2020, I'm going and the last thing on my mind will be anyone's vocal shortcomings. Who cares? Our childhood heroes are an inch away from exiting stage left forever. Gotta catch 'em now!

In December 2003 when I saw DLR solo at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, he stuck a bottle of Jack out his fly and waved it around splashing the stage and the close-up crowd. I imagine he'd done it plenty of other times too LOL.

Did the whole phone down the pants thing, shaky his tushy up there with a big, shit-eating grin on his face the whole time. He is a man of the people and I think the worst thing he can think of is that people forget about the mighty Van Halen. As long as there's breath in his illustrated body, he's going to be out there carrying that banner. That's why I love the guy. I won't be going to that show, though. First of all, my husband would rather stick hot knives in his eyes/ears than spend money on going to see Kiss; although, I do like the old Destroyer era stuff, including Beth. I just can't do these types of concerts anymore. I dump out too much money, look around at all the old people and realize I'm one of them now, and feel lousy when I can't understand the songs because they've got the sound turned up so loud trying to mask the inadequacies of the vocals. It's sad. I'd rather pop a CD in at home and rock out in delusional comfort.

That's pretty much my attitude every time going in to see Dave. He still brings a smile to my face, and one of these days he won't be around anymore so I gotta check him out while there's an opportunity. ... And if he gets himself in shape the best he can, all the better.

The JD jerkoff routine was beyond creepy, I hope he doesn't bring that back.

The Coverdale Page mention (GREAT record btw ... better than Walking into Clarksdale, the Page Plant record from 98)...I forgot that Van Halen covered David Coverdale era Deep Purple in their club days. I believe it was Might Just Take Your Life from the Burn album.

Looking back on it, I do remember at the time thinking to myself, Oh man Dave, what are you doing? But I mostly just laugh about it now. Some of his antics work, some don't. You never know with DLR.

Maybe Dave thought Jack Daniels' middle name was "Off" …

Yeah, that was not age-appropriate in 2002 on the Sam and Dave tour. Sure as hell won't be 18 years later.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

I love Plant but he didn't have any business attempting that song in the mid-90's.

Funny how things come around, though....back then, Coverdale still had nearly all of his voice. All the highs, etc, and Plant was what you see there in the video.

Today, Coverdale has totally lost it. No high voice whatsoever, and Plant still sound pretty much the same.
