I'm 48 years old, and the last thing i need to hear again is "Rock of ages."

But when i hear stuff like "Got me under pressure" and "Gimme all your lovin,"
    it never sounds old.

They are just too tasty to deny.

My 8 year old is wandering the house talking about how "every girl's crazy for a sharp dressed man."

That's ZZ Top dad. You should grow a beard like them.

    LOL...

Not sure Pyromania can hold a candle to this...

Pyromania is one of my all time favorite records start to finish. Eliminator is very good imo, just not as strong Pyro.

Except for both albums STUPIDLY excluded both fine drummers from actually playing the drums. Well, I do know that Rick Allen played the cymbals on the record. Not sure about Frank Beard on Eliminator. Whoop Dee Fucking Doo...

And, yes, I realize a lot of guitar players(not you) only care about guitars and are perfectly fine with having boring, repetitive "timekeeping" drumming on records. Yawn.

I thought Frank Beard played the drums on that album but it was to a click track.

I understand where you're coming from but to me it highlighted Beard's ability as a drummer to be so precise.

Those tunes always sound good live.

Love both but Pyromania gets the nod.

Sorry, Show, but both Hill and Beard were not even present at almost all the recording sessions because the album is almost all Gibbons playing to programmed drum machines and synthesizer bass lines. This highlights to me why the album doesnt hold a candle to their earlier work, despite some really great songs on the record.

I'm sure live they are probably a lot better, just by virtue of the rhythm section actually PLAYING.

    Default POLL: Eliminator or Pyromania?

There are no acoustic drums on Eliminator. All drum machine. No real bass either.

Its basically Billy Gibbons jamming to an electronic rhythm section.

Which is why the songs are so "lifeless" in a way to me.

I had to look it up but both records sold Diamond - another thing in common between the two.

Pyromania. It is the perfect mix of the hard rock of High n Dry and the rock/pop of Hysteria. The arrangements of Die Hard the Hunter, Too Late for Love and Billy's Got a Gun are fantastic.

However, I do really enjoy the Eliminator album. Gimme All Your Lovin is a great jam.
