    Pyromania, by a mile.

ZZ Top's '70s stuff is light years ahead of their '80s stuff.

I gotta go with ZZ Top, even though Al’s statement is correct. And from what is in Wikipedia, for what it’s worth, it sounds like it is pretty much a Gibbons solo album. But it’s still a great album (as is Pyromania.

The fact that shitty drum machines were used instead of actually letting Frank Beard and Rick Allen, ya know, PLAY on the records is a big knock against both records for me. But, I'll go with Pyro because of the great collection of songs on there.

And, yeah, ZZ's best stuff is their 70s blues infused rock.

Obviously Pyromania. ZZ Topís best stuff was in the 70s.

I would go with Pyromania. Along with Thriller, that album was a must-own when I was in 7th grade. I had a British flag muscle shirt (I'll spare you the photos of my skinny 12 year old arms).

Eliminator was my first exposure to ZZ Top. Also a fine album that was everywhere in 1983, but overall I'm going with Pyromania.

    Eliminator BY A FUCKING MILE!

ZZ Top kicked ass in the 70's, yet Eliminator is a fucking fantastic album, LOADED
with great songs & gutsy, beautiful, Texas guitar!

Fuck DL post High n Dry, they sold their soul as much as ZZ did.

Both gambled & succeeded in huge fashion.
But you can't call out one & not the other.

    ZZ Top/Billy/The Reverand....

Listen to that guy play, fer chrissakes.
Graver, Walking Ed, refugee from CVH & proud tone chaser...

Yeah, but this is one of the great album openings of all time! I love how they build the tension `til the main riff.

For me it's Eliminator, but it's close.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Yeah, it's really a no-brainer for me. ZZ Top went from edgy to over-polished with Eliminator and that turned me off. Not to say Pyromania isn't polished, but it's got a lot more of a bite to it.

    Dealing with it.

Yeah, it's a dumb comparison IMO.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Was never a ZZ Top fan. I liked a few of their songs, but they never grabbed me. DL, like early Crue, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot... that was my post-KISS gateway to metal.
