The 4:30pm start time is unusual... never seen that
Shocked there's not a Toronto date. Guaranteed good crowd.

I'm saying Poison is the finest band I've ever heard!

No, I'm saying there were probably better bands back in Mechanicsburg, but they didn't make the big move like Poison did. And once they got to Hollywood, how many people do you think could play and sing better than Rikki Rocket and Brett Michaels*? Probably a lot. Yet they were the ones who grabbed the brass ring! And now, 30+ years after their heyday, they're STILL going out on a stadium tour! Even though everyone says they suck!

So I'm saying, whatever you think of their music, their determination and persistence have been pretty admirable.

Couple them with a good drum machine, and they would probably be unstoppable.

    * C.C. didn't come with them from Pennsylvania, he joined later, so I'm not counting him, and Bobby Dall gets a pass because it was okay for `80's bass players to blow.

As a amateur hack bass player myself, Bobby Dahl is the guy that I can point at and say "see, I could've been in a multi-platinum, arena touring act!"

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

When I heard "Ramble On" and realized the bass didn't have to follow the root note of the guitar it was a real light bulb moment. Now I'm hearing `70's names like Larry Graham and Bernard Edwards and thinking, "Bass players in the `70's were awesome. What happened in the `80's?"

Off the top of my head, can't think of a worse rhythm section. That band is all Bret and CC.

I don't know where it exactly started, but at some point in the very early 80's, driving 8th notes on the root of the chord progressions just became how it was done. From Blondie to Judas Priest, almost everyone was doing it.

C.C. is a Brooklyn boy so I’m not going to hate on Poison too hard.

Actually, not going to hate at all. I’ve seen Poison live and they do put on a good show. These guys never took themselves seriously and worked hard. I respect that.

They’re not the greatest musicians...Duh, they’re a rock band. These guys have shocked the hell out of me that they’re still gigging and drawing crowds.

    Good for them!

I always thought when I was a kid he said "talk to Mean Gene," like from WWF. There's an extra syllable in there, I'm tellin' ya!
