Anybody know the identity of the loser who didn't vote for Derek Jeter. I mean, come on.

I believe there was one person that didn't vote for Hank Aaron

Eh, I don't think Jeter deserved being that close to it, a local radio guy yesterday had some compelling stats that he was kinda overrated
I didn't think Rivera should have been either..a closer being the first unanimous?

3 people did not vote for Ken Griffey Jr. and I would consider him the greatest player of my generation so not sure all the fuss about Jeter not being unanimous

There was more than one I think. It was 1982 and racism was still kinda out there.

Derek Jeter was overrated for sure. Great player on great teams. But if he wasn't in NY and on those loaded Yankee teams, he wouldn't be anywhere near the stature he's at. He was never the best SS in the game. Not even close. But damn, he had intangibles up the whazoo. Just because I think he's overrated doesn't mean I think he wasn't great.

No question he deserves to be in the HOF. And if someone is very deserving, it SHOULD be unanimous. Guys like Rivera, Griffey, Jeter, Glavin, Randy Johnson - where there's really no argument that they belong there, should be first ballot and unanimous. To me, that's just common sense - if they belong, then everyone should be voting for them. I just don't buy into all of that bullshit that if so and so wasn't first ballot or unanimous, then nobody should be. Yeah, hold these guys now where you have stats up the ass and can see every swing they made or pitch they threw going back to HS, to the same standard set by a bunch of podunk media guys who had no national presence and never saw the guys they were voting for, and didn't know the meaning of objectivity. Yeah, that makes sense...

I effing HATE the Yankees, but I'm in absolute agreement that Jeter and Rivera were first ballot unanimous HOF'ers. Stupid to think otherwise. Rivera was the greatest ever at his position, and did it for a very long time.

Derek Jeter overrated? Yeah ok, was the radio guy a Sox fan? GEEZUS that’s ridiculous.

Rivera deserved it 100%. Guy didn’t allow a run in the postseason for 2 1/2 years at one point. Come on.

Default 2019-20 MLB Hot Stove thread

Itís very strange that a closer was the first player to get a unanimous call to the hall. Hell forever, closers couldnít get in at all. Now the first guy ever in unanimously was a closer was weird. I donít care if he didnít allow an earned run for 100 years. Heís still a closer.

Think about the fact that guys like Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth didnít get in unanimously, but Mariano Rivera did? Just bizarre.

Well Jeter will never make the owners Hall of Fame because heís doing a fucking horrible job in Florida.

Whoever didn't vote for either shouldn't have a vote.
