This guy i work with, just turned 53.

He was in many club/HC bands in the Boston area, back in his youth.
    Great guy.

But he told me that within the last few years, his body just hurts.
He developed arthritis, and has severe knee pain.
He's still relatively young, but dreads walking up his stairs in his apt. complex.

Says he can't sleep, unless he finds a position in a chair.

I can't even imagine what a guy like Roth must deal with, after decades of arena tours
    and really physical performances.

If memory serves, DLR in his book talks about how he has to sleep in a recliner, with certain parts of his body propped up.

I am sure Darrin could provide more detail, but DLR has definitely paid the price for his onstage acrobatics.

Yeah, my friend does the same.

Also, check out the band Bullet Lavolta from late 80's/early 90's, Boston.

I told this guy about the CBD oil that Squalen recommends, and he said
he is going to try it.
    It's helped his friends.

Yes Daves lower back and pelvis look like he got hit by a train, just parts are ground to dust. My creative director in my film division is a former linebacker for the Vikings, big dude. He and Dave actually live near each other. I always laugh when they walk away side by side because 2 polar opposites physically (large black guy and a tiny Jewish man) but they each walk the same and have the same pains in their body. So when you hear Dave talks about his body taking the abuse of a football player that analogy comes from my Big Man and is 100% truth. Dave left it all on the field sort to speak. However he is one to never be a complainer and not a lot of use for those who are.

Also, one day I should read his book more closely, LOL

So it kinda dawned on me that Wolf's solo album is never actually going to be released.

So what was the point of it all?

The charts, the daily levels, random pics of the instruments, Val's cooking celebration
    of the album....

Was the idea just to create it for his extended family?

It is really strange. I have to think there was intent to release it at one point. WVH doesnít seem super well equipped to handle any negativity, so maybe itís just fear it wonít be well received.

He also doesnít seem to have the desire to tour a record with club dates, or Iíd assume heíd have already done it years ago. Heís almost 30. It might have just died for lack of ambition. Nobody is pressuring him. He doesnít need to make a living.

I'm slightly more disappointed than when I found out that Lena Dunham wasn't going to release her bikini calendar.

Man, she really came & went.

She was the IT girl, until all her fans were triggered and turned on her.

I've been going to a lot of club shows lately, and for me, there's just something exciting and
    raw about the experience.

Real amps, plugged in, pedal mishaps, guitar bumped out of tune...

I feel like that would be more real, than playing a huge arena with an established band.

I mean, it's great to have the good fortune to do that, but i think i'd hunger for
that intimacy and idea that THESE ARE MY TUNES, 1-2-3-4....

I agree. Much more enjoyable experience than the amphitheater bullshit. We are probably in luck. Pretty soon, the bands left that we like will just be doing clubs. Once Kiss, Aerosmith, etc. hang it up for good, that's the end of the Mega Rock show. Metallica has a good 10 years left probably, but that's about it.

The big venues will just be for the Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars type shoes that have a much wider following.

The big band era died a similar death in the 1960s. You had bands that played to thousands in the 30s and 40s doing hotel bars in Virginia Beach for 40 -50 old people.

Yep. Alex has talked about that and how it affected his Pop. IMO, a major reason that, by all accounts of those who have met him, AVH is humble and grateful for his place in rock history and the amazing career he has had.
