They eventually ended up back with Jon Siebels on guitar for an album. And recently, the drummer, Tony Fagenson, left the band.

Fun fact: Fagensonís dad is super producer Don Was.

Max and Tony did a side project called Sugi Tap. They put an EP.

Then Eve 6 reformed with a different guitarist. Other than touring, are we got from that was a demo of a song called bad news. Itís definitely a demo, but I really like the song.

Then Jon rejoined. They put out a record called Speak in Code. I like it the least since their debut. But youíd dig a few tunes. I can tell you which to check out if you like.

    Latest news is Tony leaving.

lots of greatly produced/engineered albums over the years, but the ones that come to mind right off the cuff:

    1. Metallica-Black Album
    2. Queen-Night at the Opera & News of the World
    3. Dream Theater-Awake
    4. Iron Maiden- 7th Son of a 7th Son

Yeah, thanks for the response. I'd definitely be curious to see which tracks off that last album you'd suggest. Thats a bummer now Tony is leaving. I've always thought he was an interesting player, especially his use of cymbals.

Speak in Code is more the spiritual successor to Horrorscooe than Itís All In Your Head was. The latter, their third album, was by far the most raw album.

So check out Victoria, Lost & Found, BFGF, Curtain, Pick Up The Pieces, and Situation Infatuation. Also, as a fan of Horrorscooe, have you heard their song from the Out Cold soundtrack, Anytime? Youíd like that one, too.

The lyrics arenít as clever on their last record. Iím not sure if thatís them growing up or if itís Max writing his first sober album. Pick Up the Pieces was on the EP Max and Tony did under the name Sugi Tap. It has more much production here and a few lyrical tweaks. Curtain is written from the perspective of Noel Gallagher to Liam Gallagher.

Anyway, I have that Sugi Tap EP, which is pretty good, some fun b-sides (like their cover of TLCís Waterfalls), acoustic tracks, etc. if you want any of that, PM me your email!

Going to think a bit outside the box but I always though Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins was a produced well.

This entire album. It is huge and dynamic, and you can hear every.little.thing. Headphones are a must to get the full effect, and YouTube isn't the best audio source. Even if you don't like the music, put on some headphones and poke around this song a bit. Phenomenal.

I think the Boston debut was the first thing i heard cranked on a huge stereo system, on vinyl,
and it just sounded state of the art.

Every instrument just sounds so clear & flawless, including the vocals.
And the drums sounded like Sib was playing in your living room.

I was maybe 7 years old, and i said to my brother, how come this record sounds
so different from all the other one's?

And i meant the sound of it.

My fave heavy metal production is "Ride the Lightning" from Metallica.

Listen to those chugs in "Escape," just the rhythm guitar tones alone, with Cliff's
Bass pushing this sonic under current.

RTL is THE state of the art metal production, for me.
The Black Album sounds like big radio production.

I know a lot of people LOVE the production on Boston albums, but man, there's always been something so "sterile" about them to me. I just dont dig the drum sound on those albums, though I do like Boston a lot. Hard to explain.

I agree, the drum BUS compressor's attack and release settings are way too slow on that record overall. Might have been on purpose given Tom's wanting to highlight his new guitar tech and also the organ track issues.

But, 99% of the people hearing the record will never notice stuff like this.
