I saw Steve Vai in a small theater. Great show. He had a tour bus that pulled a trailer. Nothing else. That being said, there was so much interest in the EEAS Band that Dave should seriously look at that again.

I think DLR's Vegas residency is not going to do well, and any additional touring plans will be put on hold. I can overlook Dave's now vocal limitations when he is up on stage with Ed and Al. But when he is the focal point of the show, he needs to be able to hit some notes. Smoking and whatever his unspoken health problems are that hurt his vocal control, he's a shell of his former self.

Irony is I think he has decades of bottled up creativity waiting to explode. Just record and release music dude, you are a talented songwriter still, and the studio can hide a lot of flaws.

Fan interest... sure, for that very limited audience.

EEAS Band interest... beyond a few songs at some impromptu local show may sound like nostalgic fun to them. I got a feeling none of them have an interest in working for/with Dave, in his current state, for any significant venture... For what they'd have to contend with, I don't believe any of them need the work... that much...

it's 9 dates in a pretty small room (less than 1500 I'm pretty sure) spread over a 2 month period. I think it'll do fine. I cannot imagine it leading to a bigger tour though. If this goes well though I can see him doing this in Vegas a couple of times a year and playing some of the casino circuit if he wants to perform. Unlike most on that circuit, Dave doesn't need to do this for the money I imagine. I think he'll just have fun with it and if he does then I imagine the crowds will have a good time. Fun Dave is a good show.

David playing with the EEAS smile band adds a few dozen tickets sold to each show I imagine. The world is not crying out for that tour.

The residency is set up for financial success. It will do well and in fact more dates may be added in May. That said despite the promotion talk of taking this on the road I feel pretty strongly this is not the band he would tour with. He will hit the road at some point in the future for sure but likely will be with a different group of players.

How many here are actually going to see Dave in Vegas?
Also, what is the talk about this (and the VH angles) over at the army?

Vegas is a totally different beast than any other type of event or tour. On any given day, there are hundreds of thousands of unique visitors - some tourists, some convention goers/business folks.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a quarter of the tickets are comps for gamblers. The rest are just folks who happen to be in Vegas when Dave is performing. It’ll be a full house for sure. It’s a big enough name, small enough venue and basically a captive audience - “I’m here already, might as well see an 80s rock performer. Who’s here? Oh, I remember Jump!”

I'm not going nor will I go to the tour. I have no desire to see twirling batons and other male cheerleader nonsense in a matador suite. I've seen the same thing 8 times in 10 years. That's enough....

No interest. I saw VH on the last tour and loved the show but Dave's presence and voice took away from the performance. He just doesn't have it anymore. I don't think I could tolerate Dave with some B-class guitarists behind him.

It would be fun to see Dave in concert (if he tours after Vegas), especially since I'm going away to LA and San Francisco next autumn.
But Dave also wants a world tour, including Europe, so maybe Sammy is a better option if I'm heading across the Atlantic. But we'll see...
Sam & Dave are equally as good.

    Hence the less than 5,000.
There are. Some venues that are 2 to 3 that probably would have DLR and another band as part of a package deal.
