Still think it's weird they cut the opening song, YRGM, from the show. And fucking "Dreams!" Which was probably played that night as I know they skipped it on occasion.

I heard they actually opened the New Haven show with OWTR, never went out of my way to verify that.

It's possible. They did it on occasion on the next tour.

Yes it should have been.. Itís the best concert DVD ever released... Musicianship, mateship , energy and looseness of the performance are top notch.. The solo in 5150 is one of Edís best ever..

Looks like the second night would've been the better one to see. I'd guess the covers didn't make the videos due to copyright issues.

THANKS for posting that, I was just too lazy to look it up.

Addicted to Love was shown on the MTV awards that year. Wildthing was played on radio and is heavily bootlegged. I love that version of the song. Never heard them do Summertime Blues with Sam, that would be interesting.

there are 2 versions of Rock and Roll, the one you hear on LWAN and a second one with a second guitar solo by Sam.

Completely agree LWAN should have been released as a live album also. (For MANY reasons).

I admit I’m in the dark over any friction RHRN created with Ed and Sam? Can you educate those of us unaware of this history?

    Thanks!

RHRN was re-recorded in the studio. IIRC Sam thought it was good enough to release as-is, but Ed disagreed. I remember Sam talking about having to begrudgingly redo the vocals, while mimicking the video.

Although I'm sure it's true to an extent, I'm pretty sure he's exaggerating that. A lot of it I'd bet is live. It matches the video mostly (for the non-soundstage songs at least).

What's impressive with LWAN is that on paper, the setlist is not that strong. It's the actual performance that elevates the show to greatness.

Thanks. Probably goes back to KISSí influence on Ed. Also Ed being a perfectionist didnít think a live record COULD sound good with Dave. (Not a dig on Dave.) Thatís my favorite era, but no way the brilliance of their live show could be captured on an unedited recording when Dave ruled the world. Which is likely why we never got one until they stopped carrying as much and we got Japan 100 years later...

On Tokyo, the band sounded phenomenal. Dave, not-so-much. I appreciate the effort and it had a great setlist. It'd be great if some of the early recordings were to be cleaned up and officially see the light of day. The technology is out there. It's just a matter of desire on the bands' part.

I agree with this. Honestly, I don't always understand the extreme hate that TD gets. Must be the same people who felt ripped off by "Force Awakens"?!? Dave sounds ok, aside from a couple songs where he's off the rails (Panama, anyone?). He was never Pavarotti live, aside from the 1st few tours anyways. I do have a bootleg of their 10/15/1977 show in Pasadena, and it is amazing! It's easily the best live stuff I've ever heard from them, and they sound vicious. Check it on YouTube if you haven't heard it

I made a cassette copy back in 88'.
    Wore it out.

Actually had it playing in my Firebird with the T tops out on the last day of high school...89'.

The fact that they waited so long to release the DVD is a travesty in itself. Fits everything else about the band.
