Sensible Shoes and especially Damn Good should be no-brainers for any solo Roth show, now more then ever.

I love DLR, but I just have no interest in his Vegas thing. Same thing goes for Wolf's solo album and Sammy outside of VH.

I guess I will just have to wait for Al's solo project …

I think Dave solo is consistently a little better than Sammy solo career song-per-song, but not as a whole if that makes sense.

With that said, I think Sam wins all 3 of the Baby's on Fire/Stand Up/Bottom Line duplicates. Although BL has Mikey so not apples-to-apples.

Sam is the very definition of quantity over quality. Just generic, average to mediocre paint by numbers rock for the most part. Except for when he's paired with a strong co-writer in the cases of Ronnie, Neal, and Edward.

Sam and Dave's solo career's (just sam before he joined vh) are almost exactly opposite of each other. Sam struggled in the beginning but dave had insane success early on. Sam was pretty successful at the end of his run where Dave was struggling.

Sam does do alot better when he's paired with an Ed or a Satriani but so does Dave when he's with Ed or with Vai.

I like very little Sam did prior to VH, but Sam obviously grew a lot as an artist during his ten years with VH. His post VH output is hands down better than his pre VH work, and some of it is simply great rock music.

How I feel exactly. Marching to Mars and 1013 should have been great VH records if Ed and Al didn't lose their damn minds.

Hell, even after stupidly firing Sam, if they had gone with DLR, DLR Band would have been a great VH record as well. Can't imagine how good that album could have been with Ed, Al and Mike on it and them adding their songwriting and arranging chops to it, and a real producer.

So many wasted opportunities. No need to go through them again...but damn.
