I don't buy the BS that because of his age or medical that Dave can't sing. He can sing. He can change the keys to adapt to his current register. But, Dave, for reasons only he knows, chooses not to do so. And that, is the crime.

I grew up loving Led Zeppelin. I liked some of Plant's early solo albums. But I care not for any of his other work, the way he sings and performs the Zeppelin songs now. I don't owe RP a thing beyond my devotion to what he did with Led Zeppelin.

    That's what counts isn't it.

The Zeppelin shows that I saw in the 70's, most were fantastic. There are boots of the shows, that people criticize, but the experience of being there was special and unforgettable. No amount of negative reviews of boots will ever take that away or diminish my memory of it in any way.

I'd say my favorite VH memories are from the Fair Warning Tour. A very satisfying performance. No boot is going to be able to adequately re-create that.

John Sykes, one of the absolute Gods of Hard Rock guitar.

I followed this guy from the semi beginning, when Thin Lizzy's "Thunder & Lightning" came out in '83.
The solo in that tune had my jaw hitting the damn floor.
Then the DJ (it was a local heavy metal show) started dropping, Cold Sweat.

From there, i went backwards & got Tygers of Pan Tang: Spellbound & Crazy Nights.

Then, of course, i fell in love with WS "Slide it in," album.

Sykes was like Yngwie without the neoclassical stuff.
Def a huge Gary Moore influence, too.

I've been madly in love with that entire album since '83.

I love this tune, and the crazy Darren Wharton solo, followed by Sykes kicking on the wah
    at the 2:35 mark.
    His speed, his huge bends....
He makes his Les Paul sound like an abused woman fighting back (matching Phil's lyrics).

I also loved Sykes first band, the NWOBHM Tygers of Pan Tang.

I feel badly for the second guitar player, because Sykes obliterates him in
    the "back & forth" solo's.
    But such a great tune.

The singer actually ended up becoming a big star in theater & musicals.
He quit hard rock & went the Phantom of the Opera route.

Even here, in 81, you can hear he has that kinda voice.

I picked up a new cassette deck on Amazon last week for about 100 bucks. I got a shit load of cassettes that are still in mint shape from the 90's, plus tons of mix tapes that I made... there's no shame in going back to a dead format.

I would record them all to a hard drive if I were you. They probably won't last long if you start playing them again.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -
