I don't find anything 'generic' or "pedestrian' about Sammy's career post Van Halen. For as much of a fan of his in the band I am, I'm very new and late to the party regarding his work since. I only own Red Voodoo, Marching to Mars, Unboxed, and The Space Between. The first two? I can't stop listening to them! Highly creative, great songs and hooks, a real 'everyman' blue collar feel, some emotional guitar playing, and world class vocal range..
There's a lot of diversity in the songwriting as well. Every musician on this board would love to have such a 'generic' body of work, millions of fans of it, and the financial rewards that such a career would bring."There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - A very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

Let me clarify what I mess to earlier. I think EEAS IS A VERY GOOD RECORD. Sheehan and Vai were incredible. Interestingly my favorite song on it is Bump and Grind, which I think you called filler earlier-if you did nor I 100% apologize.
I liked sckscraper when it came out, I thought it was great. It just seemed so outdated sound wise to me I hardly ever listen to it anymore. ALAE has 4 songs I really like: Lady Luck, baby’s on fire, last call and Drop in the bucket.! YFLM HAD SOMGS THAT SPINDED GREAT WHEN THE PLAYED THEM LIVE DURING THE ALBUMS RELEASE BROADCAST. I saw them live later in the year and it was reallly bad
DLR Band....every thing John 5 plays oh. I do like black but black light and counter blast a lot
Then I had Diomand Dave and that was terrible.

Lol, thats funny, I think Bump And Grind is one of the worst songs Dave ever did.
Skyscraper is a bit dated sonically, but so is 5150, to be honest.
I've never actually listened to his Diamond Dave album. Isnt that the one that has covers on it?
I hadnt listened to the DLR Band album either, until the last year or so. All I had ever heard was Slam Dunk, which was "ok". I was pleasantly surprised to hear some really cool stuff on it.
One song on ALAE that I've always loved, is Sensible Shoes. But I like all 4 of the ones you mentioned, too. I think that album gets a bad rap because the tour didnt do well. But I think Jason Becker getting sick and not being able to tour really hurt.

Anyone here surprised not one comment from Sammy in any interview, Twitter, FB, etc. about the latest rumblings about VH, Dave and or Eddie? Very quiet lately.... Although it would probably just turn into stfu Sam around here.
