I’m one of the Blackmore fanatics on this board so maybe I’m biased.

That being said Mr. Page is right up there with him. They’re both on the all time most influential list in my opinion. Blackmore’s influence alone is gigantic. Two of the greatest he spawned were Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen. I don’t think I have to explain Mr. Page’s influence at all. Both Giants.

I prefer Ritchie because he has that melodic, dark & mysterious sound to his playing. He never solos for the sake of soloing, and always believed the most important thing was the song. Never sacrifice the song for the sake of soloing. Eddie learned this well, Yngwie not so much.

Page also had the same mentality. Fuck man, we’re talking about two giant mofos here.

Can you provide some examples of how he influenced Ed's playing? Preferably with TAB so that we have some proof.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

    Blackmore, by a wide margin.

Not a fan of Page's tone at all & in general, I don't find his riffs that memorable.

Blackmore with Deep Purple alone is great, but Rainbow took it to a whole new level.

Stargazer is one of the greatest songs ever composed.

Both are great but Page gets the nod.

I've listened to more Page than Blackmore. Both obviously contributed heavily to the guitar and music as a whole, but Page's influence outside of just guitar is probably what tips the scale his way for me.

Can’t touch Page’s production prowess but I was under the impression that the question was about the guitar. Most definitely Page is a monster in that studio.

I would've loved to have heard Page produce a VH album.

Both are awesome, but I'll give the nod to Jimmy for the songwriting.
