I've heard like 4 of those.

I'm not a big Sabbath fan.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

And a few of those are just “good”, not legendary or memorable.

With all due respect, Tony Iommi isn't worthy to tune Jimmy Page's G string.

Ouch man, thatís harsh. Iommi is not CC Deville for crying out loud. The dude is a legend and one of the godfathers of a rock genre.

    Uh....neither is Blackmore.

I can think of few riff masters more iconic than Page. In terms of impact and cross-genre influence, I dunno that anyone outmatches Page, EVH, Hendrix, and Clapton.

I'd still go with Page. Page's acoustic side is far more listenable than Blackmore's.

Hmm...yeah, I’d have to agree with your assessment on the acoustic work. Ritchie is no slouch but Page’s body of acoustic work speaks for itself.

Page, Beck, Hendrix, and Blackmore left Clapton in the dust. Clapton’s guitar influence was Cream and that’s where it stayed.

To state in any way that Blackmore can’t tune Page’s G string is just laughable.

If I'm being honest, neither of these guys really do anything for me. Can't really put my finger on it, but outside of Deep Purple's greatest hits and Led Zeppelin II, I don't really listen to either guy. Nothing against them, of course, just never "spoke" to me, I guess.

for me it's Blackmore all the way, though I would say that Page is far more versatile and more influential on the general masses in the guitar kingdom. The argument I'd also heard growing up was Page vs Iommi (in which case I'd still say Iommi, even though Page covered more ground). Quite frankly, I just don't think Page had a good sound, and I despite being well versed in pretty much every genre (very common, as you all know, to hear Page explore blues, jazz, rock, classical, country/folk/bluegrass, etc) he just didn't vibe with me.

Laugh all you like, the industry and world at large doesnít agree with that assessment.

    Thereís no EVH without Clapton.

Sounds like Alex De Grassi. Another fine guitar player I don't listen to.
