Yeah, I imagine a lot of us thought the end was imminent for EVH in 2004. I am very happy that he is still with us. He has been my musical hero since I was 14 and has given me countless hours of audial joy with his once in a lifetime talent. I miss that guy.

It was always Ozzy that was dead every year at my high school.

I remember the day Randy died very well. And Stevie of course. And when John Lennon was shot. And all the moms in my entire ‘burg weeping when Elvis died. And Bon, and Freddy, and Steve Clark. 2016 was rough with Bowie and Prince.

Our era began its descent a long time ago. If you made it out of the 80s into your 50s as a Gen X’er, you are among the last of a dying breed.

Keith was embalmed many years ago. He looks like one of those gargoyle statues sitting atop some ancient European castle lol.

I was in Catalina with the Boy Scouts when Elvis died. I was watching Monday Night Football at home when Howard Cosell made the announcement about John Lennon's death. I was in Dayton, OH in training for NCR when SRV died in the helicopter crash.

Hahaha. Keef drank the embalming fluid...and then went looking for something stronger.

He was put on the death watch list back in 1973...some Aussie reporter asked him about it...”I’ll keep you informed,” is the answer that he seethed back. Right before he took a drag off his ever present cigarette and turned away.

Lol he does seem to be one who laughs at death. And Mick is an inspiring force of nature.

It’s interesting that so many of the Big Three are still standing. McCartney and Starr. Plant Page Jones. Jagger Richards Watts Woods.

I guess godhood sometimes has advantages.

Wouldn't it be cool to see Paul and Ringo team up with Roger and Pete for a few shows?

I was in school when we first heard about John. Girl came bursting into class bawling hysterical, teacher couldn’t contain her she was inconsolable.

There were other school day notifications of course. I remember our history teacher losing his shit, turning on the TV and all of us rewatching over and over the Challenger disaster that day.

I was sitting at a student kiddie desk when we were told about or shown on tv ...

    Mt St Helen’s
    Chernobyl
    Reagan assassination attempt
Pope John Paul II assassination attempt
    Bob Marley dying
    Belushi’s death

Huh. Weird. To think about all that as a kid, it seemed so removed. Nowadays with the stupid internet everything’s more immediate and seemingly more in your face.

I’ve never seen Sir Paul live, sad as that is.

Ehh. I am not the biggest Who fan. Though I respect their rightfully earned place in the pyramid.

My old man used to sit around the dinner table saying how all the greats are checking out, Benny Goodman, Les Brown, Dorseys, Artie Shaw, etc.
I'd just go in my room and put some Zeppelin on .

Seeing Paul live is an intergenerational celebration. His stage banter, you literally think he’s talking to you.

The Who live, you gain an appreciation of Pete’s phrasing...sorry Coulda had to sell my tickets to the Hollywood Bowl...going to see them in Houston instead.

I should see him before I cannot, no doubt.

He always plays stadiums, that’s why. I only but rarely attend stadium gigs now, making exceptions for acts like the Stones only.
