Billy still plays LA Woman a lot live. I've seen him cover it at least three or four times at different gigs. Stevens' version is friggin' stellar live.

Why didn't Stevens play on the Charmed Life album?

He had a fairly quiet falling out with Bill during that phase of their careers, I guess. I don't think Steve played on Cyberpunk either, and I know he shared songwriting credits with, I think, the drummer at the time, for Devil's Playground, one of the reasons why they rarely play any live tracks from DP, which is a bummer, 'cause IMO DP is Idol's best album by a long shot.

It was pretty cool seeing Stevens tearing up with Jon Lovitz' doppleganger Vince Neil when they opened for Van Halen on their 1993 tour. Steve kills it on this track from Neil's album Exposed from that same year …

Roadhouse Blues or LA Woman would be pretty cool Halenized.

Would love to hear them rip Road House Blues. I love that song, we have it in our set. Simple song, but I bet Ed could come up with something to spice it up a bit.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

They did that and Wake Up Little Susie I believe in the shows that had the acoustic set. Good stuff. DLR should have done an acoustic album back in the day, it's really in his wheelhouse.

Edit: this is the version on a really good live album bootleg from the Skyscraper Tour called "In Search of Paradise Lost". Good mix of VH and DLR solo in the set, Dave was in good voice when it was recorded.

If memory serves, Steve Stevens was DLR's first choice post VH, but he wouldn't leave Billy Idol. Not sure how the personalities would have mixed, but I think he's a better fit for a band than Vai. No offense meant to Vai.

Agreed. It's a shame Dave didn't simply sing in his lower register on the last few Van Halen tours.
