Its amazing how some people think Ed and Alex owe them

They've had an amazing career and have a right to reap the spoils of their hard work musically.

Touring used to support album sales, now albums support touring sales because touring is where artists make money.

They always put every ounce they had into their art and even VH 3, which is a "failure" by VH standards went gold in the pre streaming music days.

There are a million reasons people want more as consumers, and I'm sure there are a million reasons why Ed & Al take it easy as human beings.

The last time my wife and I saw them in Camden NJ, accidentally met Janine and Cody (before a buffoon scared them away) we got to hear the sound check, and when it was over I yelled "Thank you!" at the top of my lungs, my wife thought it was weird, but I thought it was important because of the impact their art has had on me as a person. Artistically you couldn't ask for more.

In terms of their commercial music business success as a rock band that came out during disco, changed vocalists and earned platinum and number one statuses during the grunge era; you couldn't ask for more.

This day in age being able to retire comfortably is the best riding off in the sunset anybody could ask for.

I think we need to accept they're retired..Dave said he was meeting with the bros a couple months ago, crickets, I think most everyone knew that was a crock. Dudes are old for their age. I'm 48 and hate sleeping in hotels, can't imagine them at this point in their lives going out to tour for months.

I personally don't think it was a crock -- he said he would meet the brothers (around 6 weeks ago) to discuss future plans. Maybe nothing came from the meeting but if it did, we wouldn't hear about it yet anyway. I don't think they are retired.

Well, without the fans they wouldn't have the lifestyle they can now enjoy. So, perhaps the fans are in a position to ask why. From what I know of the band, esp the brothers, they never have given a rip about the fans so not surprised.

They are responsible for their success and lifestyle, not the fucking fans.

They don't need to offer an explanation and no one is entitled to one either.

To be fair, John is 42 years old. Eddie was 42 in 1997 and still out there and very active....not much longer after that though.

That's true, but there are different ways in which to express a love of your craft.

I am almost hesitant to go further with this reply, lest I be accused of thinking that EVH "owes me something."

I am kinda tired of hearing that pat response, since there isn't a person on this board who feels that EVH owes anyone anything.

I also know that the guys have worked hard; that they have earned their retirement, and to this sentiment I wholly agree.

I am also sure that someone might come up with: "just because EVH doesn't proceed in the way that you think that he should, doesn't mean that he's wrong and you're right." This too, is true.

Now that we've gotten all of that out of the way , here are a few examples that bring joy to the viewer's heart, along with the education and inspiration that's necessary to perpetuate music in younger generations:





It'd be cool if we saw this from EVH. He doesn't "owe" us this; he doesn't "have" to do this, etc., but it'd sure be cool to see. Why? Because he's a very likeable guy who's so good at what he does .
