With your photoshop skills, I expect to see you do that to one of those pics of Malcolm when I get up tomorrow.

Is it safe to assume that Ed & Alex really only care about Ed and Alex & couldnít give a fart about anyone else...?
I see it as a somewhat demented situation.

    Here's why:

Google "Van Halen" on a daily basis, and you're sure to come up with a blurb - even if it's literally nothing. For whatever reason, EVH gets a lot more print coverage than is deserved. I am not being a dick; he hasn't written anything new in how long? He isn't touring. Even Eddie Trunk can't float a fresh new Van Halen rumor. Why write current articles about someone who's disengaged from the music business?

    And that my point:

Various sources come up with contrived crap, on an almost daily basis. Totally contrived. Total garbage.

I can only imagine what kind of coverage EVH would get, if he were spotted at a movie. Or out to dinner. Or out shopping. Or out at Disneyworld.

    Somewhere.

Yet there absolutely nothing to cover - over a period that spans years - which means that he probably does little outside of his home.

    ***

Recently, I got into Joe Bonamassa's work, which I find interesting. Obviously I like EVH's work better, but what struck me about Bonamassa, is the degree of dedication that the guy has to his craft. He regularly puts himself out there; he offers a free sample download of his work; he has a foundation dedicated to "keeping (the) blues music alive." The love that the guy has of music is well evident in how he treats his craft.

I bet lots of guitarists would love to be in EVH's position, not only for the notoriety and respect that it brings, but because that level of respect can see that goals are set and accomplished in the public sphere.

It was great being recently introduced to Bonamassa. Again...I think a lot of him for seeking to educate, and perpetuate, that which he claims to love. I only wish that everyone followed his example.

I think we need to accept they're retired..Dave said he was meeting with the bros a couple months ago, crickets, I think most everyone knew that was a crock. Dudes are old for their age. I'm 48 and hate sleeping in hotels, can't imagine them at this point in their lives going out to tour for months.
Their management tried to give some sort of last shot and it never even got off the ground

You just know his back and neck didnt always feel good, but he has always delivered every night. I still hope to see him and the band blaze away at least one more time. Selfish, I know, but he and Ed are still so gifted, it's a shame they havent shared their gift more often with the world in their later years.

To be fair, John is 42 years old. Eddie was 42 in 1997 and still out there and very active....not much longer after that though.

Horses ní Porscheís! Rough life being loaded.

Thatís cool Alex is into horses though... to each their own.

I can completely understand how Ed and Al would be finished touring. Itís a grind and theyíre probably over it. Theyíve got great lives. They probably donít want to say itís over because then itís a definite... they want to leave the door open Iím sure. I donít care if they tour again... would see them with Sammy though. But either way would love new music, like most people. The thing with VH though is they just donít care about their fans. From their perspective weíre not ďowedĒ anything. The transaction has been completed. Done and done!

Yeah, holy shit, i was thinking the same!

Too bad that kid doesn't play, because he looks the part more than Wolfgang.

I think of a hermit as someone who stays inside and doesn't come out in public. That may have applied to Ed at his worst, but he's clearly not like that anymore. He apparently plays golf on a regular basis and has been seen out and about numerous times over the years at sports and music events in LA. He's also done a few interviews over the last few years, some print, some video, but never really about the future of the band.

I think he and Alex don't like being mobbed in public and are happy to just live their normal life without drawing too much attention to themselves. Basically, they don't lock themselves up at home, they just aren't aggressive in being public when they are in public.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.
